I don't know, but they will wait until summer 2020 to begin proceedings for maximum electoral effect.

I would bet the farm that they are all hat & no cattle. I haven't been paying extremely close attention over the past week but the last figure I heard was that Nancy had something like 40 reps that want to impeach. If I remember correctly, that equaled 17% (+/-) of her caucus.

All they want to do is to set the narrative that Trump broke the law but Republicans protected him so they couldn't get him. They all damn well know that they have no case.

Today on the radio, I heard Nancy being asked a question about the potential of tarriffs on Mexican imports and honest to God, she rambled for a minute then said it was just Trump creating a distraction so the media would stop discussing the (no) obstruction report...and it was obviously working.

She absolutely doesn't want to be on the record as interfering in Trump's negotiations to enforce border security. She also knows there is no way of spinning the fact that Trump won in large part based on border security. She is also very aware that her hometown is having to pay people $180,000 per year to clean up all the literal shite that the homeless and unemployed people leave everywhere. It can't be easy defending that and her desire for open borders.

It is not a legal issue but a political issue, as has been stated earlier. I think if he is impeached he won’t be removed. He will win the 2020 election by a larger margin than 2016.

Impeachment being a Political thing they can always impeach in the 2nd term because they find his ties offensive or whatever if they so chose. However, seems kinda dumb as the people re-elected him after the 1st impeachment showing he has the backing of the People so those midterms or the following 2024 presidential election would be really fun to watch.

Not sure if by being removed that would negate the (22nd?) amendment limiting POTUS to 2 terms such that Trump might be able to continue running and being elected until the Dems stopped stopped removing him since he technically would not be serving his term. LOL

Luckily, we have the Constitution to turn to: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”.

There is no time limit except being in office at the beginning of the process ie the house voting to impeach. Of course, he must still be in office during a trial and vote by the senate. Need a vote by 2/3 of members present.

He can be impeached by the house but he will never be convicted by the Senate

So the impeachment process is a lost cause from the start

Exactly. There could be a smoking gun and senate republicans wouldn't convict.

The house can impeach both terms. It wouldn’t matter. The Senate would never vote to remove.

Impeachment is not a legal proceeding, but a political one.

If they tried to impeach Trump 6 months before an election you would see historical voter turnout in red and swing states by GOP voters.

People forget that only about 60% of eligible voters actually do so. Make trump a martyr and he will win the popular and the EC votes.
