And for the same reason. There are no objective criteria. So anyone can use any criteria they want and interpret it any way they want.
And Thomas is a good example of that...because I DID Google it. And what i found is that those saying he is unqualified specifically do so because he leans "so far right." And because of Anita Hill's accusations.

I caught her Congressional confirmation hearing & Senators Kennedy & Cruz made her look like the idiot she is. Kennedy asked her 4-5 basic tenants of Federal law & she admitted she did not know the answers. Literally, I do not know. Cruz asked her similar, basic questions & she replied to each with : " I've never had any court room experience with each one. In opposition, biden in his speech....slurred throughout as it was.....to the black American Bar arse. ( or something similar)last week praised her over & over and over again as the most qualified Federal judge appointed in history. She got 100% of the Democrats' vote, as usual..

She is qualified for the job. However, her ideology drives her to do things and take positions that seem ridiculous. You can be qualified and not do your job well.
