re: Laura Ingraham: "China thinks Trump’s desperate for a deal — but they’re misreading"

While the Wall Street Journal writes about "unprecedented" export controls, let’s recall who turned sanctions and economic warfare into an art form: the United States. Afghanistan’s reserves? Frozen. Venezuela’s gold? Stolen. Russia’s assets? Laundered in broad daylight. But when China, after decades of being the world’s rare earth foundry, finally decides to protect its own interests, suddenly it’s "disrupting the global economy"? Let me clarify something for you: The West built a system where power means denying others access, then acts surprised when the world learns to play by those same rules.
When you’re king of the hill you have to play nasty to keep others from toppling you down the hill.

It clarifies just how much the West depends on what it can no longer control. So if there’s anyone on the brink, it’s certainly not Beijing. It’s Washington.
Maybe. I don’t blame China for trying to be too dawg. USSR tried it too. If we lose out to them it’s because we didn’t try. We could end China if we wanted to because they’d still be an agrarian 3rd world nation if not for us. We could end all trade and their house of cards collapses in a year. It would be painful here but we would recover, they wouldn’t. Honestly such moves likely end in war, and I’m not sure we don’t end up there anyways. But I’m not sure China really wants this smoke, if our military goes full bore and takes the gloves off nobody is stopping us

China has basically said that they don’t care and can do without us altogether if necessary. They are already getting alternative deals.
No they can’t. No other nation has the consumerist economy that we do. Even developed nations average citizens cant afford all the stuff we buy in amounts anywhere close to what we buy

Were president Trump to claim national security initiatives, he could unleash the rare earth minerals we have here. It will take some time to build up the infrastructure and processing, but we have it. Magnets would be problematic.
And he likely will. I love how people think we simply can’t do it. We can do whatever we want if we decide to. How many common modern technologies exist in the world due to American innovation and ingenuity? Going back to the 1800s. Did china invent the phone? Television? Automobiles? Modern appliances? Internet? And hundreds of other examples? They simply cheaply copy and build what we invented because we allow it. If we cut them off, expel all Chinese nationals tied to the CCP, they fall behind our tech and their economy crumbles within 5 years. We can mine and process rare earths here if we decide to. Or make lucrative deals with other nations to do it for us.

Oh look, another thread where John Barron gleefully give China a reach around then sucks their dick.

Nobody said we can't do it. But this is going to take many years. The below tweet is worth the read because it is the best breakdown of the situation I have read

If that was the case it would have been done years ago. Especially during Trump's first term. So why didn't we solve this problem years ago when everyone said it was a problem? Your logic is not adding up, so I would love to hear your answer on why this long known problem and weakness was not addressed years ago

Some of y'all might not be capable of facing this reality, but this is right on the money!
I don't believe China has any advantages over us and they need us more than we need them, but the above comment is 100% accurate. Which is why we need an American First mindset and truly make America great again.
Its more than a slogan, it's a necessity.

We have rare earth minerals in the U.S. tied up in litigation.
There are two categories of rare earth minerals, light and heavy. China has a near monopoly on the heavy supply for the entire world. Other major source is located in Myanmar.
They have use by the balls until we can locate another reliable source of the heavy.

China faces much bigger problems internally than we present to them externally
declining population and a spiraling birth rate, there are rumors that their official population numbers are 300 million too high
they are propping up their manufacturing with government subsidies while the goods are stacking up in warehouses and on docks
when they scale back, unemployment is going to explode
their housing market is in shambles with empty apartment buildings stacked next to each other in every city
people get together to buy the individual apartments as investment opportunities and the buildings sit empty. even if they could find someone to sell to, they are not allowed to sell for less than they paid. So their money is stuck
they have spent massive amounts in Africa to gain control of resources to pour into their manufacturing economy that is seeing orders drop month on month
the rare Earth squeeze is actually one of their LAST cards to play and the US just put 100% tariffs on their goods in response. That will accelarate their manufacturing decline right before Christmas season
and lastly Xin has purged their leadership, both political and military so they dont even have a guiding hand in their government to oversee the counter strategies
this is a good video explanation of their manufacturing “involution”

Oh no, we can't have anymore electric cars or Wind turbines for a decade, what will we do?

they dont have a census, they have an official registry and the way they tabulate births and population increase is by school enrollment numbers
the school admins inflate their numbers to get higher money subsidies from the government, this has gone on for decades, thus their reported numbers are alledgedly as much as 300 million too high
young chinese are not getting married and having kids at a sustainable rate, so they have a huge work force problem. their population is aging at a staggering rate due to poor air and drinking water quality
to tell you how much trouble they are in, they recently started buying russian oil with the yuan. they had been propping up russia with dollars but now china has a dollar shortage because US purchasing is down across the board. if the yuan goes down then china and russia are screwed

Yes, China is getting rid of dollars and this is by design. It is called de-dollarization and it benefits China and hurts America and the dollar.
"CHINA’S LEADERS sense an epic opportunity. President Donald Trump’s erratic trade policy, gaping fiscal deficits and threats to the independence of America’s Federal Reserve risk badly hurting the dollar. It has slumped 7% on a trade-weighted basis since January, and had its worst start to a year since 1973. By contrast, China’s tightly controlled currency, the yuan, has reached its highest level since Mr Trump was re-elected in November. Foreign investors are piling in. So are many governments looking for dollar alternatives."

Sure, they can get some alternative deals. But there’s 330 million people in the United States and China wants that market.
The US accounts for 34% of global consumption and the EU 13.3%. The vast majority of the rest of the world's consumption is energy and basic foodstuffs, etc.
The EU is putting tariffs on china same as US.
The reason (while everyone bitched) that Trump did deals with the entire world was to stop china from using pass through countries the way they used Canada and steel.
The "trade" china has with Asia countries, using them as pass throughs to get to the states was, in the words of Barney Fife, nip it, nip it in the bud, this time around.
