Good short article. Operation Vivaldi was the result of a ground-up systemic change in Ukrainian command and accountability, removing layers of approval and resulting in faster, more effective reactions. All implemented with air and ground drones, not manpower.

Moscow can still throw bodies at the line. It cannot copy this kind of institutional adaptation quickly, because its commanders punish junior initiative, fast local decisions, and honest feedback from the troops.
The Russian system lies upward and waits for orders. The Ukrainian system is now training commanders to own the entire cycle and act before the enemy completes his own.

Deep Strike Map: Militarnyi Launches Tracker for Long-Range Strikes Inside Russia

A dedicated tracking map of deep strikes across Russian territory is now available to Militarnyi’s audience at map.militarnyi.com.
The tool visualizes data on Ukrainian deep strike operations based on customizable parameters.
Users can filter the data by date, region, target profile, strike weapon / system, and battle damage assessment (BDA).
For the base map, you can use ESRI satellite imagery, a topographic map, or a dark/light OpenStreetMap theme. In the right corner, there is a minimap that allows you to view a different scale and layers alongside the main map.
Each strike event’s interactive briefing pane features an incident summary and a direct link to the corresponding report.
The project launches fully populated with 2026 strike data, with historical records from prior years being integrated systematically. Newly confirmed strikes are plotted immediately following the release of the corresponding report by Militarnyi.
This marks the debut cartographic project by Militarnyi’s GEOINT team. In upcoming iterations, the map will expand to document incidents attributed to hostile Russian actions and asymmetric attacks against Western nations.

Clement Molin has a post today that indicates that Ukraine's "Operation Vivaldi" is continuing to push Russians back in the area north of Lyman.
OPSEC means that he and others aren't saying exactly, but anyone with the spare time can geolocate videos that are posted and figure a lot of it out (I definitely do not have that time right now).
After the end of the month, I'll be interested to see if some of the mappers think that September has been a net territorial gain for Ukraine, as I suspect it has. I think we are at the point where we can say that Ukraine has retaken the strategic initiative from Russia— if not, we are very close.

Rybar is already reporting it. They are starting to press to the southeast of Lyman also. Operation Thanks for the Money Ursula has significantly slowed the Russian advance on Sloviansk. It was never going to get underway before the spring anyway but now it definitely is not. I consider this the most significant Ukranian tactical victory since 2022.

Another video showing the effectiveness of the EW protection of the Ukrainian unmanned ground units. The Russian drone fell to the ground with its propellers still operating but was unable to lift off due to the signal interference. This protection is a major reason for the success of Operation Vivaldi.
