Okay, and I believe you, but clearly their government doesn't see it this way and I'd argue this argument is at the foundation as to why this war is going on.

For nearly two generations, the West in general and Europe in particular tried to bring Putin and the Russians along towards joining us and it's failed. This isn't just my opinion - Putin, Lavrov, Dugan and the rest have repeatedly stated this and they are trying to drag Ukraine back into their sphere of inlfuence.

So, while there are certainly Russians who want to be European they are stuck in a war whose whole premise is against this, and furthermore it doesn't look good for them going forward. Once this war is over and Russia has lost what's most likely going to happen is they go backwards, not forward.

The same government who denied the Russian military buildup on Ukraine’s eastern border in 2022 was a training exercise and not for an invasion of Ukraine? That’s who you believe?

In the first two decades of the 1700’s Tsar Peter I (Peter the Great) issued a decree that Russia would henceforth strive to be a part of Europe. It’s why he built the new capital city of St. Petersburg replacing Moscow as the capital. He modeled the layout of the new capital after the street layout of Paris, France, where he had spent several months on his goodwill tour of Europe.

Putin calling Russia not in Europe is akin to him calling the war in Ukraine not a war…

Yeah, because they've got no reason to lie about it.

The Russians don't have a European style government, culture, outlook on life, or history. Peter the Great could decree anything he wanted to but that and pulling out traditional Russian beards or outlawing Russian dress wasn't going to change anything; if anything, the way he went about forcing these changes only reinforced the Russian way of doing business, it didn't change it. The Russian approach to life stayed the same, and it shows to this day.

And Putin and his ilk have repeated that mantra for a decade now, if not more. Dugan has written about it, Putin has repeatedly drawn a comparison to the EU and Europe as a whole, and there was and obviously still is a competition for hearts and minds.

I get that Russia edges, geographically and in other ways, into Europe but calling Russia European is like calling Texas 'Southern,' or 'Southwestern.' Even though there's geographical, historical, and cultural overlap with others it doesn't make Texas anything but Texas.

So, yeah, I'm with Ag on this one, believe it or not.

Russia is Russia. They aren't European.

Yes, Putin does have a reason to lie about it just like Hitler had a reason to tell Germans they were a Master Race.

Putin wants Russians to believe they are superior to other countries.

I guess he’s trying to overcome the name the Romans tagged onto the Rus people: Slavs.

The word “Slav” comes from the same Latin root word where the English word “slave” comes from.

Russia is Russia. They aren't European.

So, Russia is not located on any continent? Is that your belief?

Does that include the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad which is located on the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania and doesn’t touch the rest of Russia?

Long posts or short, you are still avoiding the facts. Here they are again, they're not going away -

quote:

We're giving Iranians billions of $ by letting them sell oil to China, which they use to buy drones from Russia.

And, we're allowing Russia to sell oil so they can fund attacks against Ukraine and our own troops.

Fortunately, the Ukrainians are applying their own sanctions. And yes, they will also be extended indefinitely.

But not as bad as Russian refining's week. More on the Nizhnekamsk attack -

Nizhnekamsk, Russia. The explosion’s epicenter was at Nizhnekamskneftekhim, a major petrochemical plant directly linked to the Taneco refinery, which supplies it with feedstock.

It’s one of largest producers of synthetic rubber and plastics, the facility is a key part of Russia’s petrochemical industry. It also supports Russia’s military industry by providing materials used in tires, equipment, and various defense-related products.

Damage was reported up to 8 km away. The factory produces ~35% of the world’s isoprene rubber and appears heavily damaged.

Just a mystery why the Russians can't get volunteers for their drone operation units. Except for schoolchildren...

For those of us not being blackmailed by the Kremlin, please explain how this helps the oil shortage.

Revenue and profit are two different things by a lot. The first $50 of a barrel is cost to Russia. Even the 140 million barrels at sea doesn't amount to more than 6 billion extra for Russia if at full price. You need to stop jizzing over this

I'll ignore your math and especially your juvenile obsession with male sexual function and just ask that you re-read this:

Which of course is the entire point. That $6 billion into the Russian war effort is a gift from Trump. Totally unnessary, unless of course you're being blackmailed with the Epstein files.

Hot off the press, Cope is pretending to care about abused kids again! He's definitely not just using it as a way to attack someone who isn't doing what he wants them to do, similar to a tantrum from a child because they didn't get a toy at the store. Nope, definitely not that.

He thinks the entire world revolves around Ukraine and that global business should just stop if it benefits them. Not how it works in the real world. Maybe in globalist slav fairy land everyone just stops fueling their cars at a reasonable clip to support Ukraine, but thankfully we don't live there.

6,000,000,000 / x = 140,000,000. You do understand the $50 is cost of the crude to extract and get to a port.

Try harder, you keep failing to impress anyone
