??Zelenskyy on the recent strikes with "Flamingo" missiles: "All missiles reached their targets"
This is what the head of state said while commenting on Ukraine's attack on Russian territory, in particular on the Votkinsk plant in Udmurtia.
The President also confirmed that Russian air defense attempted to intercept the missiles, but the operation was successful.
"The most important thing is that all the missiles that were launched reached the target."

Or that their plan to use donkeys for logistics isn't the dumbest idea in war this century, one born out of complete desperation.
Actually what I said about this was essentially just that in war sometimes you use what you have. And from a war economics perspective it's cheap for the Russians to do it. Explaining why something could work in specific situations isn't an endorsement of it as a good idea. In fact, if you put yourself in a situation where you have to use animals to transport things for a war effort in 2026 you've already fricked up royally way before that point.

With the exception of All Hat and No Cattle, I don’t recall anyone recently saying that, maybe I missed it.
Even Ag is more along the lines of "Russia is going to win" moreso than "Russia is going to win and has done a bang up job so far", at least from what I can recall.

Every once in a while a self proclaimed student of war would pop in and tell us that time was on Russia’s side and they would eventually grind Ukraine down.
I wonder if he has changed his mind?

The vector from Belorussia via a single road through a swamp 40 miles long was stupid. Easy for Ukrainian artillery to be dialed in trapping it
My good buddy who joined the Ukrainian military for a year+ said he asked something about why the modern paved highways just end and turn into dirt roads, and the answer was "defense!"

It's still a narrow highway through a swamp. Hitler lost some tanks and men in it, along with it hiding marauding bands who harassed Hitler's rear
yeah, there's no way that one would work out differently... and while the world shuddered at that however many miles long caravan headed to Kyiv, it was a gauntlet... just attack the first five vehiles and the rear five vehicles and everything in the middle was stuck... then the troops have to run into a marsh and trudging forward on foot is difficult and they're picked off... so they just started walking back to Belarus when the water ran out, and they had not packed food. The fact that they ran out of gas helped, too...

Russia's plan on paper sucked - it straight F'ing sucked.
(and the rest of the post)
Thank you.
I'll dig up the assessment that concluded Russia would've been mostly driven out of Ukraine by now IF Trump and Musk had not engineered a series of setbacks for Ukraine whenever Ukraine gained the upper hand.
Musk is just an opportunist and he's now made the call that Team Putin is not the winning side for him.
Trump is a VIP member of Team Putin. He's trying to become America's Putin... he'd prefer every country had a Putin in charge.

I wonder what would happen if Russia started sailing under their own flag and dropped the shadow fleet ruse.

They don't own the tankers. They must charter existing tankers with non-Russian ownership. If they register these hulls in Russia, they will join the Black Sea fleet on the bottom.

Idk if they would've been driven out of Ukraine. Ukraine's only time they truly had the upper hand was during the 2022 counter offensive that caught Russia off guard. They might be in control of more of their territory if support wouldn't have been temporarily paused but to say Russia would have been driven back to its borders is a bit of a stretch.

Why would his mind be changed?
Perhaps subsequent events made him change his mind?
You know some folks do realize their initial assessment was wrong and change their minds.
For example, I changed my mind regarding 2025 LSU football. When the season began and we played a game, I thought we had a good team (good not great). I changed my mind later when we looked so bad in September.
Don’t you ever change your mind?

I don’t recall a time when Trump was in offense that Ukraine had the upper hand enough to launch a major counter attack.

That is what I assumed you were alluding to. Which specific events? I want to know what you think has happened recently that is notable enough for him to potentially change his mind

That point also (I assume intentionally) ignores the Biden admin at times slow playing deliveries to Ukraine for no real reason.
