Hegseth halted weapons for Ukraine despite military analysis that the aid wouldn’t jeopardize U.S. readiness
July 4, 2025, 5:00 AM CDT
The move blindsided the State Department, Ukraine, European allies and members of Congress, who demanded an explanation from the Pentagon.
The Defense Department held up a shipment of U.S. weapons for Ukraine this week over what officials said were concerns about its low stockpiles. But an analysis by senior military officers found that the aid package would not jeopardize the American military’s own ammunition supplies, according to three U.S. officials.
The move to halt the weapons shipment blindsided the State Department, members of Congress, officials in Kyiv and European allies, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the matter.
Critics of the decision included Republicans and Democrats who support aiding Ukraine’s fight against Russia. A leading House Democrat, Adam Smith of Washington, said it was disingenuous of the Pentagon to use military readiness to justify halting aid when the real reason appears to be simply to pursue an agenda of cutting off American aid to Ukraine.
“We are not at any lower point, stockpile-wise, than we’ve been in the 3½ years of the Ukraine conflict,” Smith, the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, told NBC News.
Smith said that his staff has “seen the numbers” and, without going into detail, that there was no indication of a shortage that would justify suspending aid to Ukraine.
Suspending the shipment of military aid to Ukraine was a unilateral step by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to three congressional aides and a former U.S. official familiar with the matter. It was the third time Hegseth on his own has stopped shipments of aid to Ukraine, the sources said. In the two previous cases, in February and in May, his actions were reversed days later.

We know that's not true. We can track the buys in Congressional appropriations bills
We can also track news reports on interceptors fired.
Those are at epically low inventory right now.
I do give that many other things should not be low inventory.
quote:
The delayed shipment included dozens of Patriot interceptors, coveted weapons for Ukraine to knock out incoming missiles, as well as 155 mm artillery rounds, Hellfire missiles, precision-guided missile systems known as GMLRS, grenade launchers, Stinger surface-to-air missiles and AIM air-to-air missiles for Ukraine’s small fleet of F-16 fighter jets.
The 155mm rounds and grenade launchers make no sense.
The Patriots Hellfires, Stingers, and AIMs make sense if we are going to war with Iran again.

If true, it's the "unilateral" aspect that is worrisome. It should be Trump's decision.

No, they're that retarded. You actually think they run those bot accounts for 3.5 years now to finally turn on USA.
This is what NAFO morons are, especially in Ukraine and EU.

Did you hibernate when all Ukros rallied behind Zelensky and shitted on Trump for weeks after the oval office shitshow?
And then many e-trolls and fanboys started putting British flags on their avatars to show how unhappy they are with US.
You clearly don't understand those stupid people. They're that dumb, collectively and individually. Very reactionary, no strategic thought or diplomacy.

Zelensky, Trump discuss air defense, joint drone production amid Russian strikes
by Tim Zadorozhnyy July 4, 2025 4:47 PM
President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation on July 4, agreeing to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses, Zelensky announced on Telegram.
The call came as Russia escalated its aerial campaign across Ukraine, including an overnight July 4 attack that struck Kyiv and several other regions, injuring at least 23 civilians and sparking dozens of fires in the capital.
"Today we discussed the situation: Russian air strikes and, more broadly, the situation on the front lines. President Trump is very well informed," Zelensky said.
"We discussed air defense options and agreed to work on increasing airspace protection. We agreed on a meeting between our teams."
Zelensky said the two leaders also discussed Ukraine's defense industry potential and explored possibilities for direct cooperation with U.S. partners.
"We are ready for direct projects with America and believe that this is extremely necessary for security, especially with regard to drones and related technologies," he added.

Looks more and more like an actual shortage of parts.
Hopefully the new funding bill turns the jets on American manufacturing of these items.

Umm, I did. This is what I found. You're in denial about NAFO/Ukraine retards. They're not pro-US. They're just anti-Russia.

Yes I had enough personal experience with them, we had an influx of them to the area last 10 years. I cannot say anything positive about those I encoutered.
I caught a little Ukrainian shite try to peel off my Trump sticker off my car back in 2016. Saw it on camera, then when I saw him in the building with his father I approached them and told that if he doesn't apologize and give me $20 for this sticker, I'll make a police report. Hilariously the father tried to argue with me in his broken English that $20 was too much.
Then I had a hit and run fender bender with another fricking Ukrainian, who also barely spoke any English about 4 years ago. fricker got out the car to look at his damage and then just took off but I got the plate and so did another person. For once cops actually did their job and tracked him down. He was issued a criminal summons and was supposed to appear. POS never showed up to a single arraignment and then moved out of state. He kept sending a judge google translated letter as to the reason he can't show up in court. I think there's still a bench warrant out for this retard but a misdemeanor probably won't be a cause to extradite.
