But there would have been a good chance if not for Boris and his trip. It is true the agreement was not officially adopted. Biden and Boris made sure of that.
You don’t know that. Putin had danced around making a commitment on Ukraine. There was no indication that everything was in place and papers were ready to sign.

As our resident leftist, What's your stance on the death penalty?
I was not saying that anybody should kill Putin and the top Russian brass... just that none of this will stop until they're gone.
I don't generally believe in the death penalty... by default it only gets used against people proclaiming their innocence, so how much trust do you have in the government being infallible in its cases? People who admit they have commited horrible murders usually strike plea deals excluding the possibility of the death penalty. There can be some circumstances where it is warranted.
I also do not believe in the "insanity defense." People do things to insure their own safety while being selectively insane and killing someone else? Even schizophrenics don't walk out into traffic.
Anything else?

White House says Putin agreed to bilateral meeting with Zelenskyy
Oleh Pavliuk, STANISLAV POHORILOV — Tuesday, 19 August 2025, 21:20
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt has said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin agreed to a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Source: Karoline Leavitt at a briefing on Tuesday, as reported by European Pravda
Quote: "The president [Donald Trump – ed.] has always said that there are areas of disagreement in this war that will have to be discussed and decided upon by these two countries. And so he wants these two countries to engage in direct diplomacy."
Details: Leavitt stated that in their conversations with Trump, both the Ukrainian and Russian leaders "expressed a willingness to sit down with each other, and so our national security team will help both countries do that".
When asked whether Putin had confirmed to Trump his readiness for a bilateral meeting with Zelenskyy, Leavitt said yes.
Quote: "It was an idea that evolved in the course of the president's conversations with both President Putin, President Zelenskyy and the European leaders yesterday. And as you saw, with all of those European leaders leaving the White House, including the NATO secretary general, they all agree that this is a great first step." [N.B. Ukrainska Pravda does not recognise Putin as president – ed.]

We haven't executed anyone innocent since like the 70's or early 80's, and technology to prove someone's guilt or innocence has exploded since then. A lot of the claims by the anti-death penalty lobby just don't stand up to any meaningful examination.

I think your logic of supposedly not wanting to kill him, but at the same time believing Putin is an evil murderer and that it would be good if he were dead doesn't really jive together. But other than that not really. The only hesitation I have at all about someone killing him is that someone else who has been successful under his regime (which is undoubtedly going to be a cold, shrewd killer) will take his place, and we don't know how bad that person might be.

I don't think Mike Pence was ever really that popular. He was widely seen as a tool to solidify support among the Christian right that (rightly) had issues with Trump's moral compass.
If you're saying "y'all" I'm taking it that you are a lefty. Lets list off the winners you guys have anointed just in the past decade or so.... Beta O'Dork, Kamala, Newsome, Tim Walz, part time radical full time DNC Cuck Bernie, Mayor Pete, and Hillary Clinton

believing Putin is an evil murderer
This is a simply a "belief" and not a fact? There's a body count with names to prove it. Do you think Idi Amin got an unwarranted bad rap? Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi? The Assad regime? Stalin? The big H?

Its a belief in the sense that there are a number of people who don't share that view, absolutely. You believe that its true based on those things, but you haven't seen the bodies personally. You don't personally know for sure which of those, if any, are Putin's doing. You believe it based on the information you have at hand that you listed. I also believe that.
Nice dodge attempt though. You don't do the semantics thing as well as a pro like myself.

No, i meant the red hat RINOs. The same group mike pence was very popular with, much like the only sect currently clamoring for JD.

My opinion of the death penalty is the result of a Criminal Science class I took at LSU, taught by a retired cop/FBI agent. He was no Liberal... but his insider perspective, pounded into us on everything, was "people are generally lazy and not too bright. Law Enforcement officers and prosecutors are people. Luckily, criminals are either the absolute dumbest people among us, or they're insane."
The burden of proof is on the prosecution... but in America, juries side with the prosecution 90% of the time. That's some damned good prosecutors we have... Kamala doesn't get enough respect from you guys. It's statistically improbable.
There's lots of cases where the prosecution's evidence didn't stand up to scrutiny later but the execution happened anyway...

How many of the 200 were actually executed?
I'll save you the trouble. None.
They appealed and were set free.
