I used to donate to them on a weekly basis as my united way charity of choice and would always put money into their red budgets around Christmas. I noticed less people stopping to put money into the buckets this year, but didn’t know why, now I know. No more money from me

If this is your standard, you'll never donate money to anyone or anything.

You are wrong Rodgertheshrubbber, I donate to my church. My church doesn’t teach racial policies, anyone is welcome to worship no matter what color of the skin.

Do you agree with your church 100% of the time?

I believe in the Lord Jesus as my savior and that is what my church teaches. No reason to criticize one race over another

So does the SA.
They're on your side.

Hey if you want to donate to the racist organization, be my guess. By the way since you are defending their policies, do you donate to them? I am free to donate to whatever organization I chose.

Still donate at the kettle because I've known the older gentlemen that's stood by that kettle for years, I no longer donate larger sums to the organization.

St. Jude is legit, from personal experience. Dollar for dollar, what the kids actually get, in way of treatment & cost-free facilities, is exactly as advertised. When looking at the other charities, just look up how big their organizational staffs are; that's where a lot of donations go, to pay the paper pushers.

Well here was their statement about it:
quote:
The truth is that The Salvation Army believes that racism is fundamentally incompatible with Christianity, and that we are called by God to work toward a world where all people are loved, accepted, and valued. Our positional statement on racism makes this clear. These beliefs and goals are critically important because we know that racism exists, and we are determined to do everything the Bible asks of us to overcome it.
The Salvation Army occasionally publishes internal study guides on various complex topics to help foster positive conversations and grace-filled reflection among Salvationists. By openly discussing these issues, we always hope to encourage the development of a more thoughtful organization that is better positioned to support those in need. But no one is being told how to think. Period.
In this case, the guide “Let’s Talk About Racism,” was issued as a voluntary resource, but it has since become a focus of controversy. We have done our best to provide accurate information, but unfortunately, some have chosen to ignore those efforts. At the same time, International Headquarters realized that certain aspects of the guide may need to be clarified.
Consequently, for both reasons, the International Social Justice Commission has now withdrawn the guide for appropriate review.
They didn’t pull it because an employee went rogue and the organization disagreed with it. They pulled it under duress because it was getting negative publicity and hurting the brand. Although someone probably got hammered internally for putting their cultural Marxism in writing in such overt language. Thus they pulled it for “appropriate review” and so “aspects” of the guide can be “clarified.”

First time my church calls out white people for being inherently racist, they won’t get anymore of my money either.

SA does some good work.
Donating to a charity requires trust since a lot of them are scams (remember the Nicole Charitable Fund?). The Salvation Army took off their mask and revealed who they are. Lot of work to restore that trust.

St. Jude and my church are the two that I support. Their admin.expense to donations ratio is about the lowest of ALL the major charities, AND they accept ALL the people whose children need help to fight their cancer.
I don't know of a more deserving cause than St Jude's Children Hospital!

Pray tell what are these values? Are blacks a singular monolithic group, this seems racist on its face.
Not only that, but they promote the absolute worst attributes of black urban culture as "the norm" then say those are the cultural norms that should be lauded.

This was not my recollection. Perhaps someone can correct my memory of the situation.
ETA: what Raz posted was a non-apologetic "apology"/statement.

I would recommend giving locally. To your local soup kitchen, homeless shelter, battered women shelter, or a veterans group.
The Salvation Army and the Red Cross are very wasteful with their donations.
