Overall poor, but better than jbe I my view. He’s a trial lawyer pet with a R by his name.
The 10 commandments and Mike the Tiger stuff when home and auto insurance is climbing 10%+ a year in this state is all I need to see.

Yall say the same thing no matter who the governor is.
Landry does legit seem pretty worthless though
And that seemed evident before the election. Republicans need to start putting forth better candidates.

I didn’t vote for him in the primary.
His GE opponent would have been many orders of magnitude worse, though.
No longer live in LA but still love the state. No opinion on Landry one way or the other beyond what's quoted above.
If you can't primary 'em out, then swallow your pride and make a business decision.

The topic is about Landry being a horrible governor. That implies a comparison. If the comparison is JBE then Landry is a terrific governor.
As it stands now, Landry is equally sucking as bad a JBE. This governor is unorganized and all over the map on every issue that doesn't matter and completely wrong on the issues he does involve with. What tort reform? Homeowners insurance rates? Sediment Diversions he's fricking up badly. i mean, Mike the Tiger.....was that a real important issue in the grand scheme of Louisiana problems?
We have one of the largest tax burdens in the south. He has his work cut out.

Income tax is worst form of taxation. I think this plan is the start of getting rid of it and getting rid of the franchise tax and lowering the corporate tax is a help. I believe the corporate tax will be lowered further in next few years the auto insurance bills will be back next session and Landry will bend some more on those. He is far from perfect and has some stupid antics but light years better than JBE who was a total disaster

Optimism:
This is not the beginning of the repeal of the franchise tax. It was totally repealed.
On income tax side, I used to pay 4.25% and now I pay 3%….. IF I choose to spend my $ on buying something that’s taxable under the sales tax, I will pay an extra 0.55% of sales tax from what it is now.
The original proposal did not call for the sales tax rate increase, It called for a base that was aligned to what they pay sales tax on in Texas. That caused a lot of controversy and they did not do it. They did NOT change what is taxed at all. instead, they added the 0.55.
I understand some of the other concerns, but there is nothing to criticize the governor for on this particular issue.
He proposed a plan that was more philosophically sound… Getting rid of movie credits and lowering the rate further etc
The legislature wouldn’t go that far, but this is still the most conservative oriented tax reform that has passed in the long / terrible history of Louisiana
Corporate tax brakes that only existed here and nowhere else were ended to bring the rate down to be fairer to everyone
The income tax reductions were objectively by scored $ larger than the sales tax increase
And they repealed the franchise tax, which is literally a specific tax on investing your capital into the state whether you are profitable or not… A huge disincentive to start up businesses ….A really dumb tax according to every economist left right or center.

Landry is your typical hypocrite politician. The 3% income tax is 3% too high. Why in the hell is he taxing the working people3% while the non Workers pay zero?????
