tl;dr: All white neighborhoods = racism. All black neighborhoods = diversity

quote:

The discriminatory history behind Trump's appeal to 'Suburban Housewives of America'

Last week, President Trump announced a repeal of an Obama-era regulation that aimed to racially integrate neighborhoods across the country, claiming that it was overly bureaucratic and unnecessary.

But that decision is just one of numerous appeals the president has made in recent months to white voters' fears of crime and declining property values, especially those living in suburban communities. Trump has spoken of Democrats' "bringing who knows into your suburbs" and warning on Twitter that the integration plan was a danger to "The Suburban Housewives of America".

On this episode of "Gimme Shelter: The California Housing Crisis Podcast," we describe how Trump's words and actions fit into a century-long history of the federal government working with private real estate interests to develop and maintain segregated communities.

My suburban neighborhood is integrated already.

We have some great black neighbors and they don't want hood rats moving in either.

He’s not wrong. And anybody who thinks low income housing brings anything other than blight and crime to once safe neighborhoods is lying to themselves and is choosing virtue signaling over intellectual honesty.

Also, the fact that people like this writer automatically thinks low income = black is at the very least guilty of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

It’s the strategy of scaring his white base and those who might be wavering. Oh, no, Black people comin’!

Same. There's a reason my neighbors moved into this neighborhood, and it wasn't because they're racists.

I don't understand why Trumps admin didn't do away with Obama's rule sooner.

This is a huge win for the suburbs.

There is a giant difference between discrimination and having governments force low income housing on a community that doesnt want it.

It seems that you believe all black people are criminals.

Why are you so racist?

Then why are you opposed to federally subsidized, multi family apartments in your neighborhood?

Because low income folks who do not fully pay for their things tend to, on average, not treat the things around them well. This has ZERO to do with race.

Because I have WORKED my arse off for forty years and MOST of that is invested in my home. No offense, but lowering property values equates to less equity. It is virtually a tax on my work ethic.

FWIW, I could give a shite what color, creed, religion, age, or gender the inhabitants of subsidized housing are. I simply am opposed to subsidized housing PERIOD! I don’t want my hard work devalued for someone else’s circumstances.

Section 8 developments are neighborhood killers. frick that bullshite.

Everyone should be concerned about this AFFH shite that Obama pushed through. Biden has either already said, or it's known he plans to bring this back if elected, and put it on steroids. Mark Levins radio show last friday, and his TV show Sunday were totally dedicated to this topic and what it did to Westchester County in New York State. People need to be seriously concerned about this shite.

It isn't just about race diversity. It's about economic. And the democrats will go crazy with this AFFH shite if given the change. Just having black neighbors is not enough. These people want thousand unit multi family units in the suburbs. They then take control of counties and force all sorts of regulations on them. Bascially taking over zoning and government of these regions.

So either you are uneducated on this subject or just an idiot. The AFFH shite that Obama pushed through and what was forced on the county in new york wasn't even about race. And the takeover affect that it had on that county was immense. The government sued the shite out of them, forced all kinds of regulations on them, basically got rid of the towns and county zoning commissions, and pushed it all over to federal government control.
