I've been to Kwanza.
It is a river in Angola.
It has more tires in it than I've ever seen. Even saw a dead and bloated body in at the port.
And it smells terrible. Locals won't touch it.
Never figured out why people celebrate one of the worst rivers in Africa.

They feel that police and first responders did not save black lives in the Pentagon, WTC enough.
Do you feel that way? Do you think that the NYFD was running up and down those stairwells with a color wheel deciding who to save and who to leave?
Imagine how ignorant you would have be to believe that during an incident during which almost 350 firefighters died (in NY alone at the towers and surrounding area) that race would be a criteria used during rescue. Just imagine that...

No, I don't believe so, but these guys came from NYC, they moved to the Atlanta area, and they didn't like the Rudy Giuliani Republican mayoralty that they grew up under...Giuliani did not have good relations with blacks.

A lot of blacks don't like Rudy.
Even some black cops (Eric Adams)
There's a reason why when he left office in 2002, blacks sighed relief
Too many police brutality under his watch. Yes, he cleaned up NYC, but blacks didn't warm up to him.
A lot of blacks hate cops and firefighters, they don't feel they have their backs.

If you knew black folk like I do, they'd agree with me.

Kind of like Juneteenth.

Please don’t speak for the entire race. Thanks.

No, Juneteenth is explanatory. It's about freedom of Black Americans after slavery.
A lot of blacks don't believe July 4 matters to them because they were enslaved in July 1776, when America was founded.

I'm not speaking for no one, I am giving you my experience around Black folk about how they feel, all the way from elementary school.

Been black my whole life. Never observed Kwanzaa. Not gonna start. And I don't know any black people irl who celebrate it, either.
More power to those who do, I guess

All the way from elementary school?!
Tell me more about black people.

quote:Juneteenth seems like an arbitrary holiday to me. It is the celebration of emancipation making it to Texas, months after the proclamation (which only freed slaves in confederate states, BTW).
No, Juneteenth is explanatory. It's about freedom of Black Americans after slavery.
Why not celebrate the date of the signing of the proclamation, itself? Is it because it was done in January 1st? What about the passing of the 13th amendment which outlawed chattel slavery everywhere in America? That was done in December 6th.
