For those not following what's happening over there...
They have just elected their 1st female PM, and she is staunch conservative and very pro-nationalist, crackdown on immigrants and foreigners PM.
She has put Kimi Onoda in her Cabinet in charge of crackdowns on the behavior of foreign nationals. Onoda was born to a Irish American Father and Japanese Mother in Chicago. He abandoned them when she was one and they immediately moved to Japan. She has obviously risen up the ranks.
fascinating that a half-gaijin is in charge of getting these gaijin in line or the frick out of there. I love the Japanese mindset...at times

Kimi Onoda, the new Cabinet minister overseeing policies on foreign nationals, indicated she would take a stricter approach to reduce crimes and other misbehavior of foreigners in Japan.
“Crimes and disruptive behavior by some foreign nationals, as well as inappropriate use of public systems, are causing anxiety and a sense of unfairness among Japanese citizens,” Onoda said on Oct. 22 at her first news conference since her promotion.
She expressed her intention to review existing systems and policies to address these concerns.
“I want to work in close coordination with relevant agencies and advance comprehensive discussions as a unified government on various issues, including strict measures against those who do not follow the rules and the revision of systems and policies that are currently inadequate for the present circumstances,” Onoda said.
The newly formed Cabinet strongly projects the conservative political stance of new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. Onoda is perhaps the most emblematic appointment who reflects the “Takaichi color.”
The prime minister put Onoda in charge of an area of priority.
Tightening policies on foreign nationals was a key issue that Takaichi advocated during the Liberal Democratic Party’s leadership race.

If that’s the case, they need to revoke Article 9 and kick out the American military.
Sorry, I used to live around Camp Foster and Kadena Air Base and the knuckleheads that work there.

Although they have a lot of issues with how Americans act at certain tourist sites and shrines, it is generally not the Americans they are referencing here
I'm sure you can figure out who is mostly drawing their ire right now

1) Americans are stationed there to uphold the U.S.-Japan treaty.
2) the people there aren’t there permanently nor do they have an intention to stay there permanently and flush out the native culture.
3) shut the frick up

Expand on this, if you will. I’m actually posting from Tokyo as we type so I want to know who I should look out for.
Looking forward to some real expert opinions on this subject.

You’re in the country the thread is about, did you not read it? Furthermore, it doesn’t take much awareness of world events to know what I’m talking about.
