Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton raised $18 million in the third quarter of 2026 across his campaign and his joint fundraising committees, his campaign tells POLITICO, a significant haul for the homestretch of the election.
Paxton’s number is double his $9 million second-quarter total, and signals Republican donors are rallying behind their Texas nominee. The campaign did not provide a current cash-on-hand total.

I don’t think it means they are desperate.
I do think it means it is a closer race than they anticipated it being and now people have to step up and give money.
I just don’t think it has to do with people being impressed by Paxton and rallying behind him. More of a “oh shite, we might actually lose this” preventative measure.

$18 million raised in just three months for a “job” that pays a base salary of $174k/year.
Wow.
And he ain’t alone. No wonder why Washington DC is so far gone.

The salary of the job is irrelevant. The impact of a Senator’s vote on the ability of other people to flourish is why they donate.
The ability of people to donate unlimited money via SuperPACs is what puts the shite in shitty politics.
