Scranton, Pennsylvania. Is it worth visiting? What season should I go?

Wife and I are trying to decide between there and Cabo.

Well I would avoid the oil rain season if at all possible. If you do go during that time of year purchase a good set oil wiper blades.

Scranton's a dump but the area about 30 minutes out in the Poconos is very beautiful country.

There’s this great BnB on a beet farm. Reviews are fantastic. Themed rooms. Choose the irrigation theme. Cool and very earthy.

Seasons 1-7 , just skip the rest. After Michael left it went downhill fast.

I hear it's called the Electric City.

quote:

Lazy Scranton, the Electric City
They call it that 'cause of the electricity
The city's laid out from East to West
And our public parks and libraries
Are truly the best
Call poison control if you're bit by a spider
But check that it's covered by your
Healthcare provider

I went to HS in a borough of Scranton called Dunmore; I graduated in '78 and the place really hasn't changed. Granted I haven't been there in 20 yrs but from when I graduated and 20 yrs later ('99) it was exactly the same. Like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Pros - a shitload of "corner" or "neighborhood" bars. A shite TON of good looking women; mostly Italian but Irish and Polish too.....a shite TON. Lost of authentic Polish and Italian food. It's HS football country.

Cons - it's ex-coal country and you can still see some "scars" of the past. A lot of mafia wannabes with a few legit mafia types sprinkled in. Rusted cars galore.

If you're Catholic you'll be in heaven; a Catholic church on damn near every street.
