Nope. Outside of the courts, nothing will happen. No one will do anything. The great deterioration of America will continue unchecked.

It’s a preemptive move.
The Democrats have promised to implement everything from magazine restrictions, to an assault weapons ban and a red flag law. They will follow through.
The Virginia constitution does protect the right to bear arms, so we do have some legal protection.

Article I. Bill of Rights
Section 13.
Militia; standing armies; military subordinate to civil power
That a well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state, therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that in all cases the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.

Posting from the Tri-cities, I will say Virginia does seem like a political powderkeg.
The state is turning into Illinois, where one metro area completely controls the politics of the state and the rural areas take their pittance. But Chicago has controlled Illinois for 150+ years. NoVa and the DC suburbs have only just begun to overwhelm the rest of the population.
I think it's far more likely that young conservatives move to Tennessee and North Carolina than try to start some kind of legislative fisticuffs.

Rooster, I was in Charlottesville today and felt like I was in a foreign country. I remember going up there in 2002 to watch us play and it still felt Southern. Today English was a second language for many of the students and every other sign on campus was about black trans women. Wtf has happened to the Commonwealth? The highlight today was the truffle fries at Boylan Heights and the drive down VA 231 back to Gordonsville.
I know what you mean about Charlottesville. I remember when the wife and I took our Son up for either a regional or super regional and we were shocked by what it was already becoming then .... can't imagine now.
I also know all those folks down in the Shenandoah Valley right across the Tennessee and NC borders are already up in arms about the reciprocity laws being yanked out from under their feet because of their own state politicians when they go into the tried cities area to shop.
When we are at our house up there out and about we are always running into Virginians ready to go to war against their Northern Virginia masters.
I actually have liberal friends in Arlington and Alexandria and even they are now saying things have gone too far up there.
All your apple farmers are also in an uproar because they are being taxed out of their family farms to make room for more subdivisions.
It's a stewing kettle up there in that state for sure. AMD then you add in the mess that Richmond is fast becoming (although I love some of their micro breweries and restaurants) and it's only a matter of time before something like attempted confiscation lights a fuse.

what's the deal with Bristol? They're the only part shaded yellow. It looks like they oppose gun control but don't want to be a sanctuary like the county?
That map is out of date. Bristol is a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary City. If you have Facebook, here is the link to follow the current situation in Virginia: Virginia Citizens Defense League, Inc. LINK Folks up here are serious about this state of affairs.

It will be interesting to see if gov blackface will try to use state police to enforce any new law and what the county cops will do.
This news link will give you an idea of our governor's strategy and line of thinking. Virginia may have to call upon outside assistance from freedom loving Americans. LINK

And ultimately, I'm not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law,” he said. “That's his call, because I don't know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that's obviously an option he has.”

Time to get my fatass in shape and start marching north to Virginia.
Serious talk, the Free Men of this country have to rebuild themselves. We cannot possibly hope to survive the impending unpleasantness if we cannot ruck up a hill.
Get in shape. Your republic needs you, but your enemies need you fat and lazy.

Perhaps the backlash will be so severe that Trump has a chance to win Virginia in 2020?

This is not an overstatement. Virginia could very well be where the battle lines are drawn.

Someone on reddit suggested a tax revolt. Withholding all funds from Richmond.
Does Virginia have a sales tax? Because that would be impossible if so.

That won’t change the facts. There will not be a gun roundup of any type, and there will be no heroic armed resistance or glorious rising up like people are clamoring for in this thread. In other words, this issue is essentially a waste of time for the entire state of Virginia.

I hope not violence. However, stuff is already happening.
Nova is being completely surrounded by 2A sanctuaries. Even the Capitol is surrounded. Militias are beginning to form.
Lots of stuff is happening.
