What were the good things she did?

Three words:

Recovery School District

HUGE move that does not get as much create as it deserves. Change the trajectory of New Orleans schools and public schools in general.

35 million dead aside, Stalin was a good ruler...

You don't separate the good from the chaff with a politician...unless you are a cuck...

Only thing I remember her doing is handing the Bensons cash to not move the Saints twice. Katrina saved the Saints in NOLA

Paul Tagliabue put his foot down and told Benson you can’t dare move to San Antonio after Katrina. He basically saved him from himself.

Going into the last gubernatorial debate before the runoff in 2003, she was trailing Bobby something like 53-47 in the polls. Bobby was cleaning her clock in that final debate when, in her closing statement, she played the dead kid card: “As a mother who has lost a son…” It was a total down by 6, on my own 1/2 yard line with 2 seconds left Hail Mary - but one that flipped that 53-47 over in her favor.

I was looking to see if anyone remembered that debate. I don’t think it’s speaking ill of the dead, because it happened exactly that way.

I was watching that debate and she did bring up the loss of her son. And she wept on TV. And it was extremely relatable with the average viewer. (Think Joe Biden bringing up Beau during the debates).

That’s a devastating loss for a parent. And it’s also their prerogative if they feel like sharing. And it just so happened, she dunked on Jindal with her closing remarks.

If Katrina had veered 50 miles to the east she would have probably won a second term.
