It's her show. He was on there to plug his work. You may not be familiar with talk shows but they sometimes ask about current news stories as well as let you plug whatever you came to talk about

He answered her multiple times. It wasn't the answer she wanted to hear, but he answered it. Her main objective was to be able to say, "see, Trump's cabinet members are running from this subject." Instead, ole boy dug in and challenged her. Her "I'm the one asking the questions" and "I'm conducting an investigation" were the cringiest live-TV moments I've ever seen and that network had done some dumb shite.

I agree that she wasn't super eloquent or thought out in her gotcha attempt. It seemed more conversational and off the cuff when she asked as she transitioned stories.
She shoulda lead with a question about him instead of his thought on situation he's not involved with and trying to frame it for him around his experience.

Considering it's been approved for official use in the federal government since 2014 with sufficient end-to-end encryption, this wasn't the gotcha that that homely dude thought it was when he asked Sec. Collins about it.
