Couldn’t imagine watching pro sports in 2026

“Pro sports” in 2026 includes Texas and my case Bama at this point so we’re all aboard the same out of control train at this point just in different cars so to speak.

Good. This could be an interesting tack in the future wants of college sports. All that PE money needs a lot of the federal/state protections to help pad those margins.

Like states changing income tax rules. Though I'm still waiting to hear about lawsuits against states that have carved out """student-athletes"""

This is not that big of a deal. Let the NFL do the business model they see fit. The govt needs to step away from getting involved in private businesses.
There are so many ways to watch now, of course any normal business would try to maximize that.
What about the NCAA championship game being on TBS/TNT and not on a broadcast network? Granted that act was not passed with them in mind but why is the NFL singled out?

Look I hate that I have bounce to Amazon, network, ESPN to watch NFL and thinks it's a PITA. I don't like that fans have to have at least 2 subscriptions to watch the NFL.

Such a manufactured product with little passion compared to college football.

The passion by who the fans or the players? The players passion is basically gone now with it being semi pro. Fans will soon follow. NFL is by far a superior product.

Mike Lee argued some insane amount it would cost for a person to watch every game, ignoring that:

1. Most of that cost is for Sunday Ticket, which means he's dishonesty shifting the argument; and
2. Most people already purchase some/all of the relevant streaming services.

The worst part is #1, because nobody in 1970 could watch every game or anything close to it. In 1970 your typical consumer could watch 3 games week (MNF started in 1970) and had no choice in the matter.

I don't know why he thinks that matters. Go buy a new loaded up pickup; they cost an "insane amount" as well.

This is populist bullshite by an administration not liking what it sees on the political landscape.

I'm not even sure it's that. I think networks are putting pressure on pols because they're losing the battle in the market and if they lose live sports we may lose network TV.

The "NFL is woke" stuff isn't even that popular anymore.

NFL viewership crushed it in 2025

quote:

The 2025 season was its most viewed since 1989, the league said, a reflection of “the strength of the NFL distribution model and its wide availability to all fans.”

quote:

2025 NFL viewership was exceptionally high, marking the second-best regular season on record with an average of 18.7 million viewers per game, a 10% increase over 2024. The season set, or matched, multiple high-performance marks across all broadcast partners, including record-setting averages for CBS, NBC, and Prime Video.

Only the biggest retards in MAGA are pretending that the NFL sucks

So you're claiming the data is fake based on what, exactly? Feelings?

Viewership data is manipulated…. has been for a long time now.

For example, moving the start time forward the past two seasons has had a measurable improvement.

Did you know their viewership numbers include children in households now?

How do you feel about the NFL promoted content being deliberately marketed for to children?

Food for thought ….

Since I'm neither a Karen nor an emotional person, while also being a person who watched the NFL and played football as a kid....I feel...nothing.
