Exactly. There are tradeoffs. But at least I am able to defend myself.

2a or not 2a. That is the question.

Not really. Laws are already in place for mental conditions. Don't you agree?
So if they can get it classified mental, then 2a doesn't apply

Apparently the plan is to keep democrats from taking guns away... by doing having republicans do it.
Or the alternative of letting criminals and mentally ill psychopaths continue to own firearms and shoot up neighborhoods and schools to the point that it changes public opinion in favor of stricter gun laws like assault weapons bans.

Let the inner city gun violence and school shooting continue and possibly escalate and a majority of the public is going to be begging for gun control.

I’m trying to prevent that by stopping those who commit gun violence to have access (legal or illegal) to firearms.

The abruptness of MAGA's shift leftward is staggering.
I thought you were wrong when you called Trump
a populist. I’ve been proven wrong

I thought you were being dramatic when you predicted it would drift into progressivism. I figured it would die out before that drift happened. …. I’m just going to keep an open from here out

Just to get this straight, you dont think our current system goes far enough to limit firarms from certain people

Millions of hard working baws smoke weed and "lie" on their forms. Should they be thrown under the bus too?

”Everyone hates the man, until they become the man”. I should have learned from Obama voters. But silly me expected more from MAGA folks.

This is already illegal. You just want “mental ill psychopaths” broadened to include a group you don’t like. Never fun once the rabbit has the gun, however (pun intended).

To eliminate illegal firearms you would have to clamp down strongly on the legal market, like you are suggesting.
I’m not suggesting that at all.

Use existing laws like convicted felons carrying firearms. Put them away for a long time. Their recidivism rate is off the charts.

They are very specific and can only be very narrowly applied to a very small number of cases of people with mental health issues. A judge with input from a medical professional are involved in these cases on a case by case basis. There isnt some blanket law that strips a certain class of mentally ill folks from owning firearms.

So a guy or gal going through a rough spot..like a divorce or death of a loved one who is depressed and is seeing a therapist or psychiatrist...perhaps is even on an anti depressant or veteran dealing with PTSD.....is "classified mental" whatever the frick that means.... loses his constitutional right to bear arms............are you mental?

Agreed. Why do we need more laws/broader definitions?

I've known people who have done 10 years for that charge, in a federal facility and the feds do NOT play.

The problem is there is too much money in the underground economy and not enough prudent enforcement of the current laws.

We wouldnt need blanket laws if we actually properly applied the current ones.

Because the next law is the one that will work! Just one more law, bro!

Progressive have been telling us this for decades. Now MAGA folks have picked it up.
