Helicopters are in the vicinity of approaching planes at Reagan all the time. It’s a known congestion issue. Someone definitely fricked up, but being out of position on its own isn’t evidence of intent. There is nothing else to support that. So I’ll go with what will be confirmed in time—the helicopter fricked up.

And their names, which will unequivocally become public in the next few days, is somehow relevant to how the crash occurred?
We will know exactly how this happened, down to individual inputs by the pilots of both aircraft AND the names of all 67 people involved.
Expecting to know everything this soon is just dumb.

Who said she did it? The pilots family had no problem mentioning his name. Was he not in charge? Isn’t he supposed to monitor the copilots actions? Maybe he was flying the plane. No one has said. He was under evaluation also.

And her family said no on early release of her name. Her body hasn’t been recovered as I understand it, so the Army isn’t going to release it without family approval.
Sometimes the answer is just that simple.

My comment is only to state the names will come from another source, not the NTSB. They do not release that information.

I think everyone already knows that. Someone in the helicopter clearly fricked up. Anyone with a brain knew that 14 seconds after the news broke. The details will come out.

Maybe her test scores and ratings have been the best in the service. I don't know that. If they were shitty and below what was normally accepted, AND she ignored rules/protocols/procedures, then yes it's damning to DEI. Even the best of the best make mistakes. People make mistakes. The question is did we have someone in that seat that met the standards of the position.

And if the male pilot is not actually piloting but is observing and evaluating, isn't he supposed to catch that the chopper is a) off course too near a busy airport, and b) at the wrong elevation, again near a busy airport? Meaning, the chopper is in extreme danger and corrections need to be made now?
