In no particular order...
- Yes, his award was boosted because of his last name. No question.
- I never knew or cared about what sort of decorations he had.
- You're generally correct about the LOM but I know a couple of (then) E-6s who wore one, for very good reasons, but they were also in a very special unit.

I have no problem with them getting LOMs, but it cheapens their awards for a 12-year NG JAG Major to get one posthumously.

IDK how much the standards have changed since WW2 on this stuff, but Audie Murphy had a LOM as a lieutenant.
Of course, he also had about 25 other major decorations. Most of them for valor. Plus a battlefield commission.
Pretty sure Beau Biden was no Audie Murphy. Except maybe to Joe.

Actually, no.
Yeah, it's BS that he got one but everybody who knows what it is also knows why he got it. It's the not first BS decoration I've seen handed out.
