Well, certainly as the South became less racist, it became more Republican. Certainly a lot of truth in that.
But, the Dixiecrats, for example, largely stayed and died Democrats. That's a fact.

Why were all the members of the Confederate government former Democrats and in fact the confederacy formed in part due the the election of the first Republican, Abraham Lincoln to the presidency?
