Less than half of their annual revenue is from members....the majority comes from gun manufacturers and associated industries. Basically, these gun manufacturing companies can stay out of the headlines while trying ensure their product remains legal, funneling money to the NRA to do the dirty work for them. That's why the NRA gives not one frick what any other citizen thinks of them...as long as the manufacturers are happy and they can keep lobbying congress with that money and member money, shite is A-OK.

They base their stances on what the gun manufacturers want, not what members want. THAT is what makes them a fraud organization swindling money from good Americans. Plenty of polling data over the years to show that a LARGE majority of NRA members support increased and more effective background checks and yet, surprisingly, the NRA has never budged on that issue. I wonder why?

The NRA would be a great organization if it wasn't so reliant on the manufacturers. It'd be great if several million people could get together behind a common cause and belief and use that power collectively to influence our legal system. But that's not what it is, not what it has been, nor will it ever be.

If the only power the NRA had was money, it would have almost no power.

It's the fact that it can threaten congress critters with re-election problems that matters............and on THAT front, it's about votes.

So, your lefty bull shite is just that. Bull shite

there's a fee. $30/1yr. I did the $100/5yr membership. They'll offer you a few little items, duffel bags, pocket knife, etc. And a magazine subscription (your choice of one of four). Still waiting on my welcome package.

I joined not because of what I get for it, but to finally put my money where my mouth is on supporting the 2A. It's a bonus to join, just knowing that it's a huge middle finger to the Marxist left.

Man, that's what they sell you on. The truth is that they're nothing more than a front for the gun lobby. How did they spend $30M on Trump's campaign? You think they have that kind of money laying around from 4-5M members? Hell no. They get funded by gun manufacturers and do their bidding. With that money, they're able to buy any number of politicians.

Now what you say is true with some politicians. If I'm a politician running for office in south Georgia, that A+ grade from the NRA is more valuable as a campaign tool than $10k in campaign donations. I get that. But even in these rural areas, not all members are against reasonable gun laws.

I'd be very curious to see what their membership numbers look like next month and the number of new memberships accounting for their numbers. I think there's likely a lot of turnover. There are those who look at FL and these corporations disassociating with the NRA and are motivated to join. On the other hand, there are those who think Wayne LaPierre's speech at CPAC was literally insane and quit their memberships over the organization's unwillingness to even give an inch.

Repeating an utterly unsupportable line doesn't make it credible.

Congress critters care about one thing. Getting re-elected.

If you can get them voted out, they listen. If not, you're nobody.

the nRA isn't going anywhere much to the left's chagrin

So, manufacturers are paying an organization that does lobbying, among lots of other things, to support my rights. Ie. the manufacturers and I have a shared goal, but they’re paying more towards that end.

So, what point are you trying to make, or rebut?

Does the fact more than half their revenues are from the gun lobby lend credibility?

Again, I get why people join and, if you don't look behind the curtain, it just seems like an organization that stands up for your rights as a gun owner. Hell, some folks do look behind the curtain and still don't give a frick...and that's fine. But for a random gun owner to just toss money at the NRA without realizing they're actually just tossing money in the kitty to represent gun manufacturers' interests, it's not good.

If you're happy with the current gun laws, don't believe there needs to be an expansion or even just fine tuning of current background checks, are cool with any accessory under the sun, cool with high velocity military grade rifles being available to 18 year old kids, well, I guess there's no point in looking behind the curtain. The NRA absolutely speaks for you and deserves your dollars. I don't believe even half of NRA members are that careless when it comes to something they respect so much.

That would imply MORE than half comes from "other" sources, right?

Polling by whom? I've never seen any credible poll or survey that shows NRA members support bullshite gun-control measures.

Just proved you're nothing but a clown with zero credibility. Another pro-gun-control POS that had zero grasp on the current legal landscape and a simpleton that is laying blame on the NRA and inanimate objects. Got news for you moron, it wasn't the NRA that won the Heller and McDonald decisions, the NSSF is the lobby for gun manufacturers, and if you haven't figured out how the NICS works by now then you have zero place to ask for expansion or fine tuning it.

Since you asked... I'm going to remove the paper backing to reveal the adhesive side. Then I will carefully roll it into a tubular shape around some tightly packed cotton balls, adhering it to itself, ensuring a uniform diameter, and making it look similar to a cotton stuffed stogey. Then, you can have it, to put in your purse with the rest of your tampons.

I have never been a member in my life, but I plan to join soon. I also plan to boycott as many companies boycotting the NRA as I can.
It looks like a lot of rental car agencies are boycotting, so I may have to use Uber.
