Well sure, but then bystanders that see you with a gun can react in any sort of way, let alone the first responders that should be showing up shortly thereafter. You are just as likely to get shot in the confusion whether you take out the initial gunman or not.

Or plain clothes cop. It is indeed a concern and if you are where you know the cops are about to arrive and can holster or re-conceal your weapon, it would be a good idea. Of course, the situation may not present that opportunity .
