So I am on reddit browsing the ask reddit page and stumble across this question: People who "switched sides" in a highly divided community (political, religious, pizza topping debate), what happened that changed your mind? How did it go?

When I was in 7th grade I used to be borderline alt-right before the alt-right. Never a nazi sympathizer or anything but I was a big fan of r/tumblrinaction and the red pill. Thought Tumblr was just a bunch of men haters and such, until I met a girl. I had a crush on her because she was nerdy and stuff.
Then I found out she used Tumblr, and it wasn't the stuff on those sites, and everything just kinda shattered around me. I just slowly grew away and have been moving farther and farther left as time went. I finally completely disconnected when I asked her out, she said she wanted to be friends, and I just decided to respect that. I moved on and we're still good friends today. I'm now really enthusiastic about being liberal. I pretty much did a complete 180.
Life is good.
