Sitting on a murder trial, can't talk about the case, but it's
fun to see the justice system up close.

my experience, one of the lawyers seeing if a juror understands innocent until proven guilty during Voir diee

'I don't have to prove him innocent, he has to prove him guilty....'
'So if I can't prove him innocent and he can't prove him guilty, what do you have to do?'

"Well I'd let the jury decide that one."
Defense lawyer "Sir, you are the jury"

The way I see it, is the Da has to prove to me that the Defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

I don't have to prove he's innocent, because he's innocent
until proven guilty in a court of law.

I always say I am trusting the Lord to show me who is guilty and who is innocent. I get struck so quick I get dizzy.

Just had this experience a few months ago. Very interesting experience. Be prepared to be astounded by what you will hear during deliberations. My. case was open and shut to most of us but some of the defendants “peers” were simply not willing to convict. Some arguments were that “she brought this on”, “his son will have to grow up without a daddy”, etc. Unanimous decisions are hard to get to. We finally got to manslaughter after 2 full days of deliberation.

Why is it up to me to decide if someone is guilty?

If I get jury duty again I’m just showing up in a maga hat.

I have federal jury duty in New Orleans next month at some point. First time ever. Not looking forward to it.

Not yet, but if I argue too much tomorrow they may vote to make me an alternate, not sure how that works yet.

We hear closing tomorrow, then judges gives us directions, then we deliberate.

Will update tomorrow if we reach a verdict.

Tell them you don’t trust the Feds after they framed the January 6 protestors and the FBI are the Gestapo. You’ll get off the jury real quick.

Pretty scary to think that average joes get to decide someone's fate. I hate the jury "of peers" system.
