That's not what they claimed. I just read the article. They claimed, and it was confirmed by the Illinois Registrar, that in many counties there were more votes cast than eligible voters.
Maybe you're referring to a different article, but the article today claims were specific to Chicago. The claim was that 15 precincts had more votes than registered voters.

I linked the official Chicago board of election data, and only one precinct had more votes cast, and the was the precinct that includes the University of Chicago.

In fact, only 9 of the 2049 precincts had even 90% turnout.

Judicial Watch has made a number of these claims, but the official data published by the Boards of Elections do not correspond to their claims. And since they haven't published specific data, JW's claims seem sketchy.

They claimed that 11 counties had more registered voters than eligible voters.

Judicial Watch Warns California to Clean Voter Registration Lists or Face Federal Lawsuit

But here is the recent (February 2017) registration totals published by the state.

CA Voter Registration by County
quote:

LA Voting Rolls Have 144% of the Total Number of Eligible Residents
2016 LA County Census Estimates

Now if you look at the 2016 US Estimates, Los Angeles County has 10.14 million residents, and 77.8% are 18 and over, which is about 7.88 million residents.

The California registration data shows that that there are 5.26 million registered voters in LA County, so that's about 66.7% of the 18 and over population. So I don't know where Judicial Watch got the 144% from.

My post was just a comment of the irregularity. However, your explanation was plausible. But are you sure the UC is in ward 5? It looks like it is 20, but I'm on my phone and tough to tell. Unless you meant that students were living in 5.

Yes. I just don't checked, and the boundary of ward 5 and 20 begins at S Cottage Grove Avenue which starts at Washington Park. That looks to be where UC boundary ends.

I responded to barrys ad hominem.
He is good for 6 or 8 "hi otto" for every time he mustered legit content.
I applaud and accepted the data about the single instance of 100+ voting in precinct with out of state provisional ballots.
Even so both ca and illinois were won with far less (millions) votes than registered voters. The basis of the two articles is nonsense. False.

Ps i went out. Gym. Shop. Negotiated another purchase.
Life.

No. But if 5.26 million is 144% of eligible voters, then that means only 3.65 million are eligible to vote. That's only 46% of the 7.88 million, and 4.23 million would be ineligible to even register. That doesn't make any sense.

From your link

This what JW claimed
quote:

In the letter, Judicial Watch noted that public records obtained on the Election Assistance Commission’s 2016 Election Administration Voting Survey and through verbal accounts from various county agencies show 11 California counties have more registered voters than voting-age citizens: Imperial (102%), Lassen (102%), Los Angeles (112%), Monterey (104%), San Diego (138%), San Francisco (114%), San Mateo (111%), Santa Cruz (109%), Solano (111%), Stanislaus (102%), and Yolo (110%).

This what JW claims they were told by a LA County officials. I didn't see where they showed proof of this.
quote:

In the letter, Judicial Watch noted that Los Angeles County officials “informed us that the total number of registered voters now stands at a number that is a whopping 144% of the total number of resident citizens of voting age.”

JW NVRA letter to Alex Padilla pdf file
From the letter sent to Secretary Padilla
quote:

Our own research shows that the situation in these counties is, if anything, worse than the foregoing data suggest . For example, we contacted Los Angeles County directly this past June. At that time, county officials informed us that the total number of registered voters now stands at a number that is a whopping 144% of the total number of resident citizens of votin g age.

I receive Judicial Watch and don't recall that "statement of fact". Can you provide link or context?
