It's a good round to teach young'uns how to shoot once you move them up from pellet gun, .22 to .223. That's the progression for wee little ones. Then when they can handle something a little beefier like a .243, they get to hunt.

At this moment I'm sitting in a tree stand 20' in the air and I'm not using an AR to hunt deer. There are better choices of rifles for deer hunting.
But if I did, the damage to the deer would be the same.
Wonder how many deer shot with any rifles ole Joy has actually seen?

In most states the caliber is too small to even hunt deer with an AR. Better for popping coons at the deer feeder.
