Joseph Raymond McCarthy, America owes you an apology

He wouldn't have survived this. He'd have stroked out by now. And understandably so.

Care to drop a few names? He never falsely accused anyone of being a member of the Communist party. Lives were ruined for refusing to testify and that's on them. Then, like now, the media, academia, the govt, and the entertainment industry were infested with Communists.

The "witch hunt" BS is a myth. Always has been. But you probably watched Trumbo on HBO and think that you know everything about it.

McCarthy’s legacy has been relentlessly assaulted by those who wish to destroy his legacy. When I was in college I had a professor who frequently attached his name to the House Committee on Un-American activities, and she was by no means the only one who has done so. He was a senator, and I don’t think I need to explain to anyone that senators cannot sit on house committees. He had nothing to do with HUAC, it was founded before he was ever elected. And what’s more, rather than tar and feather anyone even associated with communism, he gave a famous speech in front of the senate where he waved his infamous list of communist sympathizers embedded into all facets of our cultural life and said that he would NOT release the contents of that list because he believed falsely accusing even one innocent patriot would be more detrimental to our nation than rounding up every guilty party. McCarthy was one of the best men to hold office since the founding fathers, and anyone who says otherwise has a vision for this nation that is irreconcilable with mine.

And just in case anyone is wondering, the overwhelming majority of his actual list were proven to have ties to domestic or foreign communist organizations. If you want to hear someone who will set the record straight, go to YouTube and listen to what Yuri Bezmenov has to say. He worked in the propaganda department of the KGB and defected to the west. What he alleges is real and is happening right in front of your eyes. If we don’t wake up soon we are doomed. These people want violence. They want dissent cowed into silence and they’re willing to dox you and ruin your life to do it. I pray to the lord above there are enough good men left to fight them, because I truly believe that’s where this is all headed. Not tomorrow, but it’s on the horizon and we are on a collision course with it

Yes, one of the biggest mistakes the country ever made was not taking his warnings more seriously. Heck, for proof just look at who is trying to trash him in this thread. That tells you all you need to know right there

Ann Coulter's book 'Treason' is a great read on McCarthy. The footnote documentation is about 30 pages long.

Wrong. They were communists. The documents have been released. Read before you post and look stupid.
