He's also currently the furthest on the Right of late night talk show hosts, which is fricking insane.

Not true.

That would be Jimmy Fallon.

I love how Maher cherry-picked facts within the story. The Fresno St story went viral because the imbecile posted an ASU mental health crisis hotline as her personal number. The flood of calls basically shut the hotline down.

Seems Maher somehow left that tiny detail out.

The hot line was never "shut down" ASU officials had to add staff to the service, but said that no calls went unanswered, and the service was never off-line. It was more of an annoyance to the service than anything.

But your general point is still true. University professors are given tenure to prevent their employees from firing them over making statements that are truthful and educating, even if they may be considered taboo, offensive, or politically incorrect. To prevent some board members or trustees from directing the university president, or prevent some local politician via those board members or trustees from directing the firing of faculty, when all that faculty did was make statements of truth or fact, even though they were offensive to some to hear.

What the Fresno State professor was none of these things. She educated no one, and basically just profaned Barbara Bush in ways that can easily be denounced by fact and truth. She just basically called Bush names.

Then add to what she did with the ASU hotline number, and she clearly has taken actions that would IMO hold up to scrutiny for her firing, even as a tenured professor....

Me too. He nailed that.

I have such a love hate thing going on with him. He's like a ideological chameleon. I think his own views are solid, but he plays to his audience and his panel so much, he gets lost in it too often.

To be fair, Maher has hated Trump for years, it didn't start when he ran for president. Maher hated Trump before it was the cool thing to do.

I like Maher but he will never be rational when it comes to Trump, and it's not because Trump is conservative-ish. So pretty much 90% of his show is unwatchable at this point. But he will occasionally bring up solid points on weed, freedom of speech, cultish religious fanatics, politically correct BS, etc. when he's not ranting about whatever Trump nonsense of the week he feels like spewing.

His latest book was phenomenal. I say this with complete honesty, it really has made me make some common sense changes to myself that have already paid off for me and my family.

I highly recommend reading it

Incorrect. Look at this clip where he and his writers are eating out Hillary Clinton live on stage: LINK

Meanwhile, Bill has outright banned Hillary from his show, has told her to frick off, and never show her face again: LINK

Its not that clear because Fresno State is a public entity. I think, ultimately, you're correct but its not black and white

That's wrong. Government employees have free speech rights. Meaning the government can't fire them for exercising their free speech right

I really hope you are referring to Jordan Peterson and not Bill Maher.

Sounded a lot like Sam Kineson's Emotional Tampon line,

I was shocked by Maher’s example of the Fresno State Prof as well because what she did was so appalling and brought discredit on her institution. If anyone did that to their employer deserves to suffer consequences to include termination. Peterson’s input about the “what to do with Trump supporters” fell on deaf ears which proves they are not nearly as enlightened as they want to portrait themselves. IMO the biggest difference is generally Trump supporters/conservatives say “I don’t agree with you” and go about our business. Liberals go about it 100% different by getting louder, trying to force you to believe what they believe and implement programs to buy certain demographics.

This is what's frustrating about Maher. On certain issues he sees the intellectual dishonesty from the Left, but on for the most part he has full Trump Derangement Syndrome. When he went in to his diatribe about how, "but Trump is a straight up dictator" or whatever I just rolled my eyes. He could have had a legitimate discussion about it, and it felt like he was close, but he jumped to his mental safe space where everything Trump does, he does because he's a monster or something.
