Republican Rep. Jim Jordan will not hold a third ballot to be speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and will instead back empowering interim speaker Patrick McHenry, The Washington Post and Punchbowl said on Thursday.
There is no indication Jordan will withdraw from contention for the chamber's top job.
Jordan, of Ohio, declined to comment ahead of a meeting of Republicans.

Legitimately the WORST option. This is no better than giving Jefferies the gavel.
We've got to elect a freakin speaker.

What a huge loss for all true conservatives. McHenry might as well be a Democrat. Has one of the liberalist voting records in the House.

Tell us what you know about McHenry.

There needs to be some big time campaigning against whomever the holdouts are. Give them a 3 day warning before another vote and tell them the gloves come off against anybody still on the fence.

Unless you want to put all 435 of them in a room and go Battle Royale until we have a new Speaker, I don’t see an option.

Here comes the continuing resolution that your friendly DC neighborhood lobbyists has been fighting for.
Let the grift continue.

Gaetz fricked around and found out.
Acted like a child, too stupid to have a plan in place.
Congrats, stooges

This isn't about McHenry. Seems like a decent man. This is about the stability and marketability of the Republican Party going into this next Presidential Election.
Republicans SUCK at marketing. The narrative will not be in our favor. We need to elect an actual speaker.
What's keeping the white house from dismissing subpoenas and impeachment inquiries as illegitimate with a temporary speaker that's given expanded powers by only part of the house? Maybe they still need to legally respond, but it will at a minimum be met with more delay tactics and lawsuits. All that our expense.

GTFOH. Yeah the market was doing so great while McCarthy was running the House and Potato was napping all damn day.
All 22 traitors need to be called out and primaried. Cowardice and corruption at its finest.

Where were all the subpoenas and impeachment inquiries when we had a legitimate speaker? All you got were a few hearings and a lot of talk.

This is a horrible idea for them. Obviously, Jordan wouldbe in over his head as a speaker with such a decision. Might this decision prove he is a RINO in elephant skin?
After all, have any arrests been made?

He only votes with his party and his constituents about 54% of the time. Crosses the aisle 46% of the time. Rated one of the most left-leaning republicans in the House. Tell me what you know about McHenry. The Dems are saying this is a huge win.
