This company has been left leaning to fully leftist. Odd for a company selling products to farmers. Now they have the NYT writing articles bemoaning how Trump policies hurt them. I despise both Deere and NYT
It's a publicly traded company, now owned mostly by BlackRock etc. That's all BlackRock ESG bullshite. Same with Harley etc. BlackRock "forcing behaviors."

If they’re an “American” company why would a tariff on goods impact them?
The previously mentioned 5000 series tractors assembled in Georgia... they used to just make the cheaper E version in India and the Ms and Rs were still assembled in GA, but they discontinued the Rs & now all of the 5000 series (50-135hp utility tractors) are imported from India.
Kubota is good for smaller tractors, but their larger tractors are basically equivalent to entry level /E series JD. I think I'm looking at an AGCO for my next one, John Deere can go fly a kite.
ETA: a JD 5125M cab tractor with a loader is like $125-135k... these aren't homeowner purchases.

There are some things that are not practical to produce here
Because of all the regs we've placed on them.
Tarriffs are just evening that playing field since we can't reg how China handles it's labor/safety/environment.

Where Deere separates itself is in the big stuff. Kubota just doesn't go there in a big way
It doesn't look like they plan to get into anything higher than 210 hp any time soon either. Although the M8 with the Cummins B6 is a beast for its intended purpose.
They found a niche market with the smaller more affordable tractors & it's paid off.

Offset by shipping across international seas.
The real issue are the regs.

There is nothing wrong with buying higher value foreign goods to force American companies to compete.
Or we could just make everything overseas where slave and near slave like conditions in the work place are tolerated.
Nothing wrong with that!

True. Companies not having high enough ESG scores miggt have trouble finding banking and/or capital.

I know my grandpa would roll over in his grave if he knew I have Kabota.

Under 26hp and you don't have emissions equipment or an ECM that locks everyone out.

used to work in the Deere plant in Georgia that made the 4000 and 5000 series tractors and they no longer strive for quality, it's all about building them as cheaply as possible with the cheapest parts possible. Your Kabota is a much better choice considering what you get vs how much you spent, believe me
Yea Deere sucks now. They ain’t making em with the quality of a 4020 or 4840 these days

Ok we’ll just as every other nation does, America is free to set trade and tax guidelines to encourage optimized outcomes for their citizens so that’s exactly what Trump is doing.
The end result will be that the optimized decisions for John Deere will be to produce as many of their components here as possible.
Nothing communist about setting trade and incentives to benefit your own interests.

I guess it depends on how you SJWs define "slave labor" now. It seems to keep changing.
You can’t even be honest about China using slave labor.
There’s no point arguing with someone who refuses to acknowledge basic facts.
And I’m cracking up at the idea that condemning slave labor is somehow “SJW”. Just take the L.

Haha have you ever taken an economics class?
Every nation in the history of history has optimized trade policy in their interests until America went globalist and accepted unfathomable trade imbalances that gutted our entire economy and generated wartime levels of debt.
