The entire spineless "moderate", faux-intellecutal wing of the Republican party that did nothing but start wars, lose elections, ignore cultural rot, and surrender to democrats for two decades is how we got to this point.

Honestly, this is what the focus should be. It wouldn't surprise me if Cornyn was absolutely shocked at the reception he received.
These people live in a bubble. And, I'm convinced they are fed skewed information from market consultants about what the people want that they treat as gospel.
Is Cornyn a guy who just has no perspective? Or, is he truly a guy who doesn't care because he's really a Democrat and only pretends that he's a Republican.
There's been some rumblings that the deal is going to fall apart in the next few days.
