I realize this but tort reform and auto insurance reform entails capping the amount of damages a person can receive. Just wondering how you place a value on a life, paralysis, loss of limbs, etc. It's easy to tout tort reform, but the devil is in the details.

No. a woman on her way to work one morning is killed by a garbage truck running a stop sign and T-boning her vehicle. She's married with no kids. Her husband files a wrongful death suit against the driver and company of the truck. Again what's her life worth? If you say cap all lawsuits at 100K, you're saying her life is only worth that. I agree there are far to frivolous lawsuits in Louisiana, I am asking you how do you decide capping monetarily damages in certain types of legitimate lawsuits.
I don’t know how to value the poor woman’s life, but I see no reason to give Gordon McKernon a million dollars.

So, you are good with keeping industrialized fraud in the car accident field because of the one or two cases that may get squeezed over this?

Send them all to prison for 20 years per count, and never allow them to practice law ever again.

What fricking a-hole anchored this thread?
Was it someone who couldn’t stand losing an argument?

Exactly and my moral compass doesn’t revolve around WWGordonDo.. nor do my voting principles revolve around money making efforts

I agree. But one can't go to court without some type of competent attorney. I wouldn't select him either. The husband in this case didn't.

This guy and the fireman dumbass start the same threads over and over, of course it’s going to be anchored.

Ok you get a 20mm cap on wrongful death and there are no punitive damages for environmental issues.
You shouldn’t get $14mm because someone spilled oil on your property 35 years ago

But you shouldn’t have to pay any attorney 40-50 percent of the award.

Great. Now let's cap the percentage lawyers get settling the cases. Instead of 30-40%, only allow them to collect 10-15%. That way the majority of the settlement benefits the plaintiffs not the lawyers.

$100,000 sounds good and let some legal clerk getting paid on salary settle the claim, and make sure some blood sucking attorney doesn't see a penny.

So the wife is 25, would have worked at least 40 years more. So her life is worth $2500 per year to her husband for the next 40 years as loss of family income. I am sure her salary was much more than that per year.

All lives worth $100,000 or whatever number you want to settle on. Babies, 25 year old wives, 99 year old grandmothers, crackhead.

Hey buddy, wipe that shite off your nose and chin.
You’re pumping a guy who is pumping the life out of Louisiana and filling his pockets while doing so. Trial lawyers, nursing homes, etc., etc., etc., the list goes on and on.
