Yes. And if there’s nothing to know from a terrorism perspective, he knows the same as you and I do.
You’re assuming that he knows more because you assume there’s more there from an intelligence perspective. He doesn’t refer to that at all in his interview.

Here's why I disagree: Federal law enforcement only investigates a situation like this initially up to the point that they can determine that it is a federal case. Once/if they decide it's not, they turn it over to state/local law enforcement.
In this case they had DNA, prints, video, and online communication. So they turned it over to local law enforcement, which would be pretty standard in a case like this. It's my understanding that doing so doesn't mean that the FBI can't be involved, but they have to be requested by the state/local LE. It's also my understanding that the authorities are investigating leads to determine who may have radicalized this kid.
As far as Joe Kent, I see a guy who is saying and implying just enough to keep the spotlight on himself, but keeping it vague so he can't be pinned down on anything.
