Catholics cannot be Freemasons. This is pretty well known, and engaging in their oaths or rituals would be considered a mortal sin. This is just a fact, I realize not everyone ascribes to Catholic Teachings (including most Catholics), but is well know Catholic teaching.

You would have to ask a priest.
As far as Freemasonry goes religion isn’t going to be an issue. I’ve known men who were both Knights of Columbus and Freemasons .

If you are to believe the connection between the Knights Templar and the Free Masons then it would be fact that the Free Masons originated from the Catholic Church. If this is so then the church is hanging on to an old grudge based on lies from a French king.
