A quote from First Lady Jackie Kennedy caught my attention, so I played it back again to be sure I was hearing her words correctly. She is on the plane standing next to LBJ as he is about to be sworn in. She is covered in her husbands blood and so Lady Bird Johnson asks her if she would like to change clothes, and Mrs Kennedy said “No let them see what they have done.” Haunting words to hear as she seems to be in a moment of clarity and knows the ones with blood on their hands was on that plane. The blood of JFK and the blood of this nation. To quote Tucker Carlson who has a source who has seen the redacted parts of the investigation and says we have been living under the illusion of a free country since that day. Jackie’s words were haunting to hear.

What also horrified me was when they were preparing to leave Dallas, Jackie wanted to go into their bedroom on Air Force one to lay down a bit and when she opened the door LBJ was sprawled out on their bed on the telephone. Sick bastard he was. Rot in hell Johnson!

Because of him (or he being the puppet for the CIA) we entered Vietnam and got the civil rights act. Two terrible things for this country. Black America is worse now than previously 1964 amd Vietnam still wrecks havoc on thousands of Americans today

I don't care about the Kennedys. They're flagrant liberals and I'm not cursed with Boomer sentiment.

I watched a few hours of History Channel's documentary on his life. I didn't know all the details of the PT boat stuff. Dude was swimming a few miles this way and that between islands in enemy territory to save his crew. He was a legit hardened military hero after having such a pampered upbringing.

The country has never been the same after what was done to him. I think Reagan and Trump got off the reservation and were dealt with accordingly.

With the state of mind that the nation was in at that time, if they knew then what we know now, riots may have forced the deep state into the open. That generation of Americans would not have just accepted its fate.

WTH. I never like Johnson and this gives me reason to not like him even more.

" we entered Vietnam and got the civil rights act. Two terrible things for this country"
... yes, God forgive that the Civil Rights Act provided equal protection for all, under the law. Before the Civil Rights Act, businesses could have "whites Only" sections and schools could be segregated.
The fact that black society has struggled has nothing to do with the Civil Rights Act.

LBJ like the Clintons had a trail of bodies across his political career. Vietnam, Great Society… Thanks LBJ.

He micromismanaged Vietnam .He didn’t listen to his Generals or fight to win. Vietnam should have turned out no worse than Korea, but we did not fight to win and thus lost. Plus we never should have taken on the French screw-up. Wrong war, wrong place, wrong time. He wasted American lives and put this country in a malaise that lasted until Reagan.

He turned a positive can-do country into a mess. JFK for his faults was a patriot and believed in America. He challenged our limits to put a man on the moon.
Lee Harvey Oswald was a loser. No way he planned and conducted the assassination by himself.

“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”

This very mindset is alien in modern-day America and especially is not anything you’d hear even remotely uttered in today’s modern Democratic Party.

Whatever entity is in control of our Republic today, it is not made up of good people.

Not just black people either. The folks back in the hollers were self dependent. Living like the pioneers, grew their food, made their soap etc. Great Society broke that model.

.. agree with this statement, but welfare was not included in the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Welfare stared with FDR in the 1930s with the Social Security Acts. You can argue against Welfare, Food Stamps, Minority Hiring quotas, etc., but I fail to see how you can argue with Equal Protection Under The Law.

The AF-1 ceremony was being filmed for posterity, and her arrival back in DC would be on live nationwide TV. Jackie Kennedy was keenly aware of that.
