I honestly hope Flake tries to primary Trump. It would be high comedy and good practice for the general election against whatever loony socialist the democrats put up.

A committee vote is helpful but is not required for final confirmation.
Mitch can still bring them to the senate floor for a full and final confirmation vote regardless of how the committee votes. That happened in Clarence Thomas' case.
