re: JD Vance says US will "WALK AWAY" if Russia and Ukraine don't come to a ceasefire deal

Walking away is just a green light that the invader can continue without American objection.
American objection in the form of hundreds of billions of dollars. Tell me what all of that has accomplished and why it should continue. Be honest, if you’re capable of that.

Trump didn't anticipate that Europe would want to encourage the war to continue and throw monkey wrenches into the peace deal. Reasonable people would think Europe would want the war to end, but apparently Europe isn't reasonable.

What does he mean by walk away?

Did he say that?

Oh okay. I'm wondering how you got that from my post. Sometimes a comment is just a comment and there's zero reason to read into it.
I read into it exactly what it was. We do not need to be involved in that conflict, and any support of our involvement into that conflict should be viewed as support for sending other US citizens into a war zone.

More or less pressure than losing your border?

That's one helluva reach there.

Yes, no shite....
Well it’s not obviously “no shite”. You don’t seem to understand the dynamics of this situation that most others have just accepted as a given.
quote:
If you're zelensky why even agree to the ceasefire if they are just gonna violate it in a few years and take the remaining with no consequences....
If I’m Zelensky, I would have done a lot of things differently at this point. This is war, and he is losing, he can agree to a ceasefire or die.
You simply cannot expect others to help you and also demand terms. That’s what he has done, and it’s left him on an island.
The fact is, he took our money and resources and has nothing to show for it. He is now in a very weak bargaining position- and while his circumstances have always had him in a weaker position than Russia, he has exhausted his resources and left his country in a vulnerable position. While I agree that’s unfortunate, it is the reality of the situation.

Agree somewhat. Depends on the deal and what concessions are being asked for.
You really don’t get it. My entire post was a “no shite” post. The pressure is absolutely on Ukraine. How much pressure is on Europe depends on how much they they really believe in Ukraines cause. To this point, they haven’t demonstrated much in that regard.
Again, it’s war. Bad guys sometimes win them, and whether you like it or not, the US and Europe haven’t really shown that this is a hill they want to die on.

This is heavy pressure on Ukraine. Zelenskyy is a dunce.
It's the sort of pressure that should be done quietly. Letting Russia know about it demotivates them from making any concessions.

I think that’s kind of the point.

Then let the EU countries use their money to fund Ukraine and continue arming them. This is a regional conflict in their backyard, not ours.
But with the warning to Europe that the US isn’t getting involved if they push too far and end up in a hot war with Russia themselves.

It’s a green light for Russia to do what they please. If Putin chooses peace he’ll get it. If he chooses to continue the war he’ll do that and get more territory.
Don't talk about it, be about it: they're accepting foreigners into their army as we speak. Godspeed, oh virtuous one.

When not snickering at Vance's mascara he is not listened to on either side of this. Putin has played Trump and Z does not need him anymore.
Putin is kidnapping dudes out of gyms to fight.
Both sides are spent and Russia can't win this.
Putin is Sgt Bilko with nukes

Welcome to the club.

Not necessarily. It depends on how Russia comes out of this. It is not in the US's interests to see them with more control of REEs. That's why Trump wanted that deal with Zelenskyy.

Is it. If we aren't involved, how exactly would we prevent your comment (quoted below) from coming to pass?

I agree with Vance. There is no way in hell we should continue to fund endless wars. They need to put up or shut up.
