Agree. Eddie will likely pull enough votes. He's not the groomed politician everyone is used to. But hell, I will take my chances with him. Fed up with these traditional self-serving Bozo politicians. Especially ones that try to glorify themselves while they tax & spend us into a "surplus".

The recent surplus went mostly to teacher pay raises and funding for schools. Yeah, horrible stuff.

Wrong, the surplus can’t be spent on reoccurring expenses. By law it has to go to the rainy day fund, coastal restoration or capital projects.
None of the surplus went to pay raises or education.
Besides our education problem isn’t due to a lack of funding, and although teachers need to be paid too much goes to administrators to waste.

Didn't he just sign a bill granting teacher pay raises for the first time in years?
Most are pissed at just the $1000 and see it as a slap in the face. They voted against Vitter last time. They won't be voting against Doc this time.

You’re right, I meant the most recent budget that was passed. The teacher/school increases came primarily due to the increased state revenue.

Seriously? Wow, not only Danzler but now Mendoza who's nuttier than Arden Wells. Mendoza got his "Ph.D" from a diploma mill in Mandeville that was raided by the FBI. He runs an organic farm in Ponchatoula.
Maybe Mendoza on to something being in the water here in Tangipahoa Parish with all the nutjobs we have here.

Nothing like using taxpayer's money to pay off govt. employees during election year. Teachers who aren't drinking the union koolaid see right through his bullshite.

Average teacher pay is about $50k which is about $2200 below the regional average. This increase brings them to $1200 below the average. It’s better than the zero they have been getting for years.

Blanco lost what? She didn't run for reelection.
After Katrina she could have run for dog catcher and not won.

Taxpayer money to pay off government employees? Could you have phrased that any more negatively if you tried? Call it what you want but teachers and school funding have far too long been ignored. It was a good first step.

Agreed which has nothing to do with her teacher pay raises
