And what knowledge or information are you basing your opinion on ?

The populist, conservative MAGA wing of the Republican Party—alongside a dominant conservative activist base—controls the Texas GOP.
• Shift in Power: Influence has largely moved away from the traditional, center-right business and establishment wings (associated with figures like former President George W. Bush or long-serving Senator John Cornyn) toward populist and nationalist conservatives.
• Key Indicators: This shift was highlighted when Attorney General Ken Paxton—backed by Donald Trump—defeated incumbent U.S. Senator John Cornyn in the GOP primary.
• State Leadership: The state is governed by a Republican trifecta and triplex, led by figures like Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and Attorney General Ken Paxton, who align closely with the party's conservative and populist priorities
• Donor & Factional Influence: The party’s operational and financial direction has been significantly shaped by ultraconservative donor networks and PACs (such as those tied to West Texas oil billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks), which have consistently worked to push the party further to the right and target more traditional or moderate members.
• Decline of the Moderate Wing: Political analysts note that the traditional, business-friendly, center-right or pragmatic wing of the Texas GOP has seen its internal influence and number of elected officials greatly diminish as primary electorates reward hardline and populist candidate

Was about to reply but Owlie covered it
That would be a decisive, damn near blowout victory after trailing in every poll for 2 months
It can happen, sure, but yeah - place the bet if you think so and you’ll cash in big time if it hits

4-6% isnt slim
That’s slim in what should be a Republican stronghold. Beto was objectively a better candidate than Talarico and similar to Paxton, people had soured on Cruz.

Trump got 56% in 24 in Texas

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison. I know you’re aware of the historical trends for midterms nationally. Texas is and will remain an outlier.

No it's not and neither is the Cruz Beto campaign is not an apple to apples comparison
different candidates
8 years later
The 24 presidential election is more recent numbers and Trump versus Harris who I imagine you agree is a weaker candidate than T'rico
Trump got 56 %youre suggesting that paxton who is not Trump is going to manage only 2% less?
