The 'Pink House' in Jackson, Miss. was the home of Jackson Women's Health Organization... the plaintiff who sued Mississippi which led to the SCOTUS Dobbs decision which overturned Roe v. Wade

AP Story on WAFB Website

quote:

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi abortion clinic at the center of a U.S. Supreme Court case that overturned Roe v. Wade has been sold and will not reopen even if it’s allowed to do so by a state court, its owner told The Associated Press on Monday.

Diane Derzis said the furniture and equipment from Jackson Women’s Health Organization have been moved to a new abortion clinic she will open soon in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Jackson clinic is best known as the Pink House because of its bright paint job, and it was Mississippi’s last abortion clinic.

...

She said she does not think the building will be used as a medical facility.

...

The Pink House is still engaged in a legal battle in Mississippi. On July 5, a state court judge rejected a request to block the trigger law from taking effect. The clinic appealed her ruling to the state Supreme Court.

Attorneys for the clinic cited a 1998 Mississippi Supreme Court ruling that said the state constitution invokes a right to privacy that “includes an implied right to choose whether or not to have an abortion.”

The state attorney general’s office argued that the 1998 ruling was rooted in U.S. Supreme Court decisions in 1973 and 1992 that established or protected abortion rights but were overturned on June 24. But Rob McDuff, a Mississippi Center for Justice attorney representing the clinic, argued that state justices never said their ruling was made because of the federal Constitution.

The state Supreme Court has set a July 25 deadline for state attorneys to respond to the clinic’s appeal.

Needs to be demo'd. I couldn't imagine using a building that has that much blood on it's floorboards.

That should be the HQ of the largest anti-abortion organization in the world

I’m still confused. I was told these clinics along with the national planned parenthood did so much more than just abortions. They were women’s health centers.

I mean.. would health clinics close if you just took flu cases away?

I mean… all that money that democrats always want to send to planned parenthood was absolutely not for abortions.. it was for “women’s health issues”. So… these “women’s health issues” should be enough to keep all the doors open. Right?

i was in jackson for business last week and i stayed in a hotel directly across the street from the clinic. was bizarre to walk out and see, for better or worse, a major piece of history outside.

it has some truly odd art deco type artwork on it too. very NWO feel.

I once traveled State Street regularly but I am trying to think of what that building housed prior to its being an abortion mill. Anyone remember? Que Sera (sic) restaurant was there (ate 100s of oyster po boys there). There was a Kolb's Cleaners, a hardware store, shoe repair and others.

Looked on Google Earth and what looks like a restaurant in the spot where Que Sera was is still a restaurant. The Pink Building is directly across from the building Rooster's is in.

It is some prime real estate. Rumor is that a developer has plans to demolish it and build those apartments with retail/restaurant space below it.

I'd love to see some sort of memorial to those killed there.

Already one of those on Lakeland across from UMMC. I hear it stays full. I would imagine mostly UMMC students, residents and employees. I know Richard St John has several projects going on in Fondren and I guess they could be successful but I'm not sure I would spend a penny in Jackson given their problems (self inflicted, I might add). Fondren is a little different but I understand the businesses in the area pay a premium for security protection.

The former Planned Parenthood facility in Bryan, Texas is now the national headquarters of the Catholic pro-life group 40 Days for Life. What was meant for evil, God uses for good.

This building should be converted into the National Abortion Holocaust Museum.
