That's a pretty narrow-minded view. My Catholic Irish immigrant ancestors were neither of those. They immigrated to here looking for work in the mid-nineteenth century, and were dependent on others to provide them with jobs.

reset our culture to one that demands SELF SUFFICIENCY

It is literally impossible for our population of nearly 350 million people to all be "self-sufficient". Our economy alone makes us all interdependent.

We need to drop this fantasy that we are a nation of yeoman farmers. We never have been. At its most basic, consumers are dependent on producers to supply goods and services, and producers are dependent on consumers to provide demand for their goods and services.

No. That's not what was being discussed at all.

You're cherry picking from his conflation and only focusing on the policy portion and not the part that we were actually discussing.

If you want to claim his argument about culture, religion (and race) is superfluous, I'll gladly listen : popcorn:

My Catholic, non-Irish immigrant ancestors also were neither of those.

And they were considered not white in some cases and incompatible with "American culture", with similar rhetoric as OP, which he has retconned with revisionist history.

revisionist history.

It seems that they refuse to learn about some of the darker aspects of our country's history, and fill in the gap of their knowledge with myths and fairy tales.

Which would all be fine, if that's what it takes for them to cope. The problem comes in when they demand that everyone else buys into their fantasies.

This is precisely the situation I was trying to describe - and by the mid-19th century there was a country here and you could not just come 'settle' land - Our government was established and had well documented laws.

BUT - in the mid-19th century there was no place you could plop your butt down and demand someone provide you with food, clothing and a place to sleep. There were charity organizations that were privately funded.

The only place you could get "free" food and lodging and clothing was in the military. But then you were 'earning' it by your service.

The point is that this country was settled by people who worked - or had relatives or friends that pampered them.

THIS is what being an AMERICAN was all about.

Now - we have democrats trying to change all that into a population that was dependent on the gov't. for their daily needs. This mindset will be the death of the USA - whatever survives will be unrecognizeable wrt our founding principles and the first 250 years of our existence.

There is a place for immigrants - we are the most friendly place in the world for immigrants with integrity, a work ethic, and a dedication to becoming an American just like all the rest of us.

The day reach 20% of the population, you'll see a newfound yearning for nationalism after we are gone.

There is one small group of people in the U.S., Canada, Australia, NZ, and Europe whose biggest fear is a rise in Christian nationalism. They're trying to prevent this by flooding these areas with non-white, non-Christians.

America is a nation of immigrants, regardless of what the orange pedo with the immigrant wife believes.
