It's truly a shame that it's a forgone conclusion all the Democrats vote no

on SCOTUS nominee.
When is the media and frankly the President going to hammer the obvious obstruction of serving the American people they were sworn in to do as Senate leaders?
Dick Durbin on CNN said "all it takes is one Republican to vote no and this confirmation is over" (he was talking about McCain being out or unavailable.
So on national TV before the SCOTUS pick was announced this clown was on cable news telling all of us how the Democrats would play this situation. "We must stop the President's pick"...but offered no reason...
What in the hell is going on in our government?
I mean really, how do these people sleep at night?
A judge is either qualified or they are not...Kav seems to be qualified and likable....
The politics around the court is something I guess I will never understand...

51 Rs in the Senate. 47 Ds and 2 indies. Let's say McCain doesn't vote. All other Rs vote yea. Let's say the 47 and 2 vote nay. From what I know, Pence can only vote in case of a tie vote. Therefore, 50-49 won't get a vote from Pence so I surmise the vote would fail since you need a 50 plus 1 in order for the nomination to pass.
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. I might be.

Why? I’m not saying I think Dems should reject any candidate outright, in fact I think that’s irresponsible as representatives of the people.
I’m saying Republicans are no better and would do the same thing if the roles were reversed. Both sides are too obsessed with “winning” a fight to actually make smart choices

No, politicians who think like you, i.e, in juvenile terms of winning, payback, and pandering to uneducated voters is what caused it this time. It’s also why they are collectively the most ineffective body of people in the country.
The National political issues/discussion could very very easily be elevated to a more productive and substantive level. Irresponsible and shortsighted politicians and their complicit buddies in the media simply choose not to.

Yep. Because John McCain is nothing more than a self serving politician who cares more about grandstanding and his “legacy” than actually performing his duties as a representative of the people of Arizona.

Realistically, McCain will never leave Arizona again.
