Tate Reeves in MS said he didn't want to hurt the GOP congressional races.

You would think after what happened in Indiana they would have the opposite thinking.

That's a tough district based on demographics. Lexington County has less people than Richland but Aiken has more than Orangeburg. The only other Dem areas of that district are rural black counties where almost nobody lives. Edgefield is solid red.

Yeah ... that's my voting district of record, both the farm house and the lake house. We're solid Red for Joe. Just had breakfast with him during the chicken festival last week. Roxie and my wife are pretty good buddies.

It'll be interesting to see who eventually replaces Joe. I think Massie had eyes on that but he's out now. Possibly Carlisle Kennedy, when the time comes ... you read that here first. Joe's not ready to go just yet but who knows.

We were at the beach house for a little while last month (managed to squeeze it in between the AirBnB renters) and, while I'm not worried about Edisto or Beaufort, Charleston is eventually going to be in play and that's worrisome. We drove into Charleston for the Leonid & Friends show at the Charleston Music Theater and spent a couple of days with old friends on the IOP and they are very worried about the number of liberals taking over down there .... mostly the ones from the NE and Ohio.

Hembree and Rankin are going to be a no on the redistricting. The UCLA crowd here in Horry County want nothing to do with a district that has Charleston in it. We were stuck in the old 1st district for 20 years with almost zero representation from Ravenel, Sanford and Henry Brown. Chip Campsen apparently doesn't want that map either. Horry and Georgetown Counties are conservative as hell so it would offset the Charleston leftists, but the Horry natives fear a primary challenge against Russell Fry by a Charleston candidate. When you look at the slivers of Berkeley and Dorchester that will be in the 7th district it likely gives them more votes than the Grand Strand.
