Wouldn't be my first pick, but he is the most likely conservative canidate that can pull in the moderates and McCarthy camp.

After Jordan, you are looking at Stefanik, Scalise, Ehmert, Mace

I don't see any other viable options short of a handful of liberal/moderates joining ranks with Ds and picking one of their members.

The whole Trump thing aint happening. Neither is MTG, Byron Domalds, Gaetz, Tucker or whatever other ideas people have.

He'll win both sides so its any easy safe choice. He will talk a little more smack before he agrees to omnibus bills so at least that's something - and he might not wear a Ukrainian flag so that might be a win as well.

Not interesting at all tbh and it's not personal but conservatism can do better.

Only problem I see with Jordan is that the House would lose one of its few true bulldogs who readily takes on the dirty jobs.

I'm ok with giving yappy Jim a chance to wield a bit of actual power. In the long game, snuffing out the Gowdys of the world is useful, but on the off chance he backs up the talk, giddy up.

We need to stop trying to metaphorically cure cancer with every move. Test the waters, adjust, push the ball up field, adjust, etc. Every move doesn't have to shake the earth as long as the potential to shake the earth is there with every move.

Because he’s a freshman rep who brings nothing to the table. He only got elected because he’s a black republican during identity politics. He’s not going to pull any black support being a suit wearing politician who isn’t relatable to the normie. It’s no different than dems pushing Jeffries, he’s a useful idiot for them who actually believes he’s someone

A lot of people on this board who watch Twitter clips have never watched an actual house or senate hearing or know who the actual players are.

I have little faith he or any of the long standing GOP will do anything. They allowed the J6 non sense, the covid non sense, the face diaper non sense, the Patriot act. Im convinced we are all just FKED.

I don’t disagree and he should have initially been the speaker over mccarthy.

On the long timeline, yes we are fricked. Human nature doesn't allow for harmony, peace, or really any sort of success. History is a playbook. We're eventually doomed.

Might as well shoot wild shots to change course or at least slow the decline. Jordan isn't the "let's get fricking nuts" candidate, but he's narrowly in that general direction. Especially if he wants to be.

I'd be very pleased with either Jim Jordan or Kevin Hern elected speaker, but would be disappointed to lose Jordan on the investigations and committees.

I think Hern would give a fresh approach to the seat and is a relative outsider compared to other GOPe candidates such as Emmer and McHenry as well as having an excellent financial acumen and disposition from his previous career as a business owner. I think we need someone to govern this grotesque institution like they would run a business, but could he survive while trying to drain the swamp?

Scalise IMO is likely the establishment choice and I would not be completely opposed as long as he has the vigor and resolve during his medical treatment and illness and is held to the conference expectation of strength and success relative to goals that McCarthy failed at. He has the experience needed to unite his members but can he handle the workload and be far enough to the right to lead GOP members in this testy environment?

In my mind the jury is out on that front and now might not be Steve's time. I think you need him to remain majority leader.
