It should be taken over . The establishment types need to be defeated. The two parties have had decades to rig the system, a third party is not viable but will only leave the Democratic Party in charge forever.

Two parties = 1 party (sans a few elected officials)

If the GOP won't play ball with its constituents, then they can lose forever.

It should be taken over .

And, who besides Trump (with his 75M strong voters) is more capable of doing this?

It's time to face a real painful truth. The GOP isn't trying to oppose Democrats. It's trying to become controlled opposition to those that oppose Communism.

Leaving declared membership to the party sends a message to the elected Republicans that people are not happy with their work. When they see the numbers of registered Republicans decline, it will send a message. Republicans need to lose a few seats to get the message and change or bring in new people that actually represent the majority of the party instead of just being RINOs.

What does it matter, your vote doesn’t.

I will vote for conservative candidates regardless of party, as I always have. That doesn't mean I have to be a member of the GOP.

Ka-fricking-boom.

They shoved their hands in their pockets, turned their backs and walked away. True conservative principles are no longer a hallmark of the Republican party.

EDIT: Maybe I shouldn't say they aren't a hallmark, because I can't possibly know what's in the heart of every person in the party. However, I do think it's fair to say that conservative principles are not favored as much as they once were by the party.

1) The republican party has done nothing for conservatives

2) You don't "take over" a monolith like that. You merge and comprise and you muddy the water

3) Parties are inherently bad. You don't want to be in one.

We are about to enter a period of time of single party rule anyway, at least from the standpoint of the President. Dems have flipped Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. North Carolina isn't far behind. Once they flip Texas in the next 5-10 years they'll be no path to the presidency for a Republican.

Being a member of a party is a substitute for actual political literacy. It's lazy. It's checking a box and moving on.

This is eerily similar to what the PRI Party in Mexico used to say too

They do a helluva lot more than the Democrats have.

The Constitution is built on compromise, but only one side is united enough to hold out for it.

Agree 100%, but the Dems are in lockstep, which means we can stand together or fall apart.

They will never let this happen, because the primary driver for politics is money. You get money by getting people excited. You get people excited by building a fake narrative where the good guys win sometimes and lose other times.

This is about money, increasingly so.

When you attach yourself to a party you become emotionally invested in it. It becomes a part of your identity. It is a way to control people, extract money and take power.

If you're a member of _any_ party you should leave it immediately and vote on your ideology.

[citation needed]

I'd argue neither has fundamentally catered to conservatives for decades.
