If what you say is true, why is Rubio referring to him as an alien then?

Do permanent US residents warrant the term “alien”? You keep saying he’s a permanent US resident so show it.

Well technically, I suppose he is an alien, just not illegal.

It's in the article man...

The two-page memo, which was obtained by The Associated Press, does not allege any criminal conduct by Khalil, a legal permanent U.S. resident and graduate student who served as spokesperson for campus activists last year during large demonstrations against Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and the war in Gaza.

Yes, he is a permanent resident.

He came gere in a student visa. He git married while here and then changed hiscstatus from student visa to conditional green card holder.

He is "permanent resident alien", albeit conditionally because his marriage is recent.

Now do you understand that he's not here on a student visa, but that he's a permanent US resident? Do you get it now? Nevermind.

AGAIN!
He is a permanent US resident .... until he isn't.

Define "permanent."
Does "permanent US resident" mean he has no option to reject being permanently locked down here rather than return to live as a .... permanent .... resident in his home country?

Should look into his marriage, make sure it’s not a sham marriage.

I don’t know how it works because he came on a student visa.

But the citizen that married the non citizen used to have to show they can financially support both of them.

He was always going to win in this judge's court.

He will not win his case and will be deported.

I also think any judges that keep these people from getting deported and the alien commits a crime. That judge should receive equal punishment.

So the judge should have to do community service, pay restitution, go to prison, receive the death penalty, etc.

Are you getting sore at me? You don't need the exclamation points man. I'm just pointing out his legal status. I didn't give it to him.

Thank you for the explanation Jim.

@ Pandy, wasn’t jumping down your throat - just thought it would quell the disagreements.

I've followed this fairly closely. What I've read is that immigration judges typically rule in favor of the Government.

And to the emboldened part. We'll see. I get the impression the Government is going to have to cough up a case stronger than because we say so.

I’m going to chime in here, I’ll let the system work here in deciding this somewhat vexing situation and all can be in the know that the person of interest will always have a shadow over its shoulder in the country and abroad.

Possibly a hell fire missile in waiting for the time it comes out of the dark.

That’s enough for me…

Yeah that's cool. I didn't get that impression.

YES. They do.

I know CNN and MSNBC told you that is not the case, but it is. Sorry. These judges are out of line.

I think it is stronger than that. The basis for the Secretary's determination that Khalil's presence would compromise a compelling U.S. foreign policy interest is that
Khalil participated and played a leading role in antisemitic protests that produced a hostile environment for Jewish students
These protests produced numerous instances of unlawful behavior
This undermines the U.S. policy to combat antisemitism around the world and to protect Jewish students in the U.S.

I'd get behind this 100% if the Government could cough up some evidence that he has terrorist ties or has in anyway voiced any support at all for Hamas.

Well that's their whole argument.

Now on a personal level, here's what bothers me about this. By granting him permanent US resident status, the government is essentially saying this...

You can live your entire life in the US. You can marry, you can work here, buy a home here and pay taxes here but you're going to have to live under a diluted set rights.
