This. They thought the whole country would buy the bull shite mainstream media is selling and tried to get out in front of it. Republicans know the rioters don’t represent us and that there are still questions to be asked about the election. I have some liberal FB friends that said ‘trump turned the whole country against him’ but they are wrong. Rasmussen had him at 51% approval on Friday after the riots. American is still with him.

How do they overplay their hand? Last time they had congress and the presidency, they passed ACA. And Obama literally told them "this will cost some of you your political careers..."

Didn't matter. Still voted for it. Ask Mary Landrieu and the other 12 Dem Senators that lost reelection after it.

Republicans could only dream of such loyalty. And yes I'm jealous. And yes it pisses me off.

I don’t think I can really see any reversal this week. It will probably take me about 6 years

No they aren't and no it won't.

People will remember this.

No we won't. Republicans are like battered women who constantly return home to their abusers on promises of "I'll never hit you again," only to be beaten to a pulp in short order. In two years we'll hear electioneering from Republican candidates about "I'll stand up to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris! Just give me another term! We'll put Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi in their place, by God!" then completely blow-off their constituents as soon as the election is over and the checks from the lobbyists clear. See: Bill Cassidy, among others.

Be a great time for new blood candidates to jump in against incumbents.

We saw what happened when a "new blood candidate" won the presidency in 2016. The Swamp has sent a clear message that high elected office in the United States is a members only club.

He expects everyone to forget in 6 years.
Kennedy has 2 years prior to running for re-election.
Had he been re-elected this year would he be singing a different tune like Cassidy?

I will rejoin the Republican Party just to vote against him in the primaries. I have no idea who will run against him, though.

For all their shitty politics, the dems have done a decent job of not splitting their party from the new socialist reps. Republicans are going to have a serious issue come next election cycle

One thing the institutional GOP old timers don't get is A LOT of people voted for Trump because they genuinely thought he was representing them. This wasn't McCain, Romney, Bushes, or even Trump's first election where we just voted for the Republican candidate. America FINALLY got someone that genuinely was getting things done since Reagan, and the establishment (both sides) fought him the entire time.

I'm not interested in supporting the next Romney they float out.

He has 6 more years in office since being re-elected.

All of this will be forgotten, or the Dems keep increasing their numbers in LA or mount a unified primary challenger in the open primary to force runoff or LA goes back to closed primaries and they select someone good.

There are only a handful that stood up to a treasonous theft.

The only “it” they get is that they know some of their base is willing to look past their cowardice if the “get tough” now.

No offense, but I will pass.

Biden and the Democrats are liars. They don't want healing; they want complete submission.
Democrats want a divided nation so they the dissenters can be clearly identified, ostracized and neutralized.

Republicans are not getting it. (Well, Graham probably is, but he likes it.) This is their standard failure theater. They can say all sorts of things with no fear that it will ever be enacted. If eight years of Obama followed by Trump didn't teach you that, you aren't paying attention.
